Hi,

After now finding out that I need a new battery from my Galaxy. I'm looking to swap the one out of my Rover 216SLi... what battery specs do I need to be aware of?. Will this be a possible option?.

Thanks

Rob

No! It needs a Sliver Calcium type to go with the Smart Charging System fitted to the Galaxy after 98(?). It is not compatible with a conventional lead/Acid battery. Your handbook has a warning to this effect.

I was thinking about swaping my 96 P 2.8 sharan's battery (relatively new) with my 99T mkI galaxy battery (just bought the galaxy and going to sell the sharan  ) - but then i read the above messages so i decided to call halfrauds+ read handbook....

The ford's handbook didn't mention anything about specific battery types....

Halfrauds:

First of all they said that the silver/calcium battery was infact a lead/acid battery with calcium coated plates and just lasted longer.....

2) I asked him about swaping a sharan battery for a galaxy's one and he said you can have any battery type you like so long as the power rating is not lower than it should be....

So if I do go ahead with the swap, my gal will have a higher power battery but my sharan will have a lower power battery- WILL this make any difference to the sharan? I mean it will start right? will there be any obvious difference? :46:

mumof4: my car's only a T plate: 99....... it might be different for you.

I'll ask halfrauds what battery i would need for your car...within a weeks time
