Ivor_E_Tower Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 What annoys me is the way successive politicians have messed up this once-great country of ours....VAT used to be 10 percent (was actually 8 percent for quite a while), never used to have airport departure tax, or tax on our fuel bills, or tax on insurance premiums...we used to have almost the lowest fuel prices in Europe, when I was a kid we didn't used to lock the family car when we went out and it was always still there when we came back with all our stuff still inside it..... Smilge Posted October 16, 2006 Report Posted October 16, 2006 MO4 ...... Without looking at it, sounds like the bearings have gone in the drum. I've fixed a few in my time and never known the drum nut to come undone. I think our machine is a bit like yours; more on than its off! Hope it is the nut that's come loose and not the bearings. Good luck Quote
Guest neil_wiles Posted October 17, 2006 Report Posted October 17, 2006 The LG Intellowasher has an integral motor and drum and it is very likely that the motor carrier has come loose on the rear panel. This machine according to the manufacturer does not have any belts or pulleys and the main shaft of the drum is actually the motor. Try checking the bolts (about six of them) on the rear panel in a circle around the centre line of the drum. Quote
mumof4 Posted October 17, 2006 Report Posted October 17, 2006 When i took the back off the machine, there was a belt on the back of the drum..and the drum does have a lot of free play in it when moved from side to side and up and down..to be honest ..i checked everything i ould see..waggled a few things..tightened others..but the amount of wires stopped me from pulling it all apart..but since then no more loud knocking..touch wood..fingers crossed......just need to sort the door out now. But i shall go check those bolts....thanks neil. where are the bearings???? Quote
Smilge Posted October 17, 2006 Report Posted October 17, 2006  Oooh it's one of them hey? ..... I assume, like Neil said, that it has an integral motor / drum and the drum load is taken up by the bearings within the motor. Is the whole drum supported by shock absorbers connected to the base of the chassis because they have a tendency to break when the machine is overloaded with washing? With the drum moving around and bouncing off the inside of the machine .... seen that a few times on Hotpoints. Any use? Quote
