monkeyboy Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 just been to look at a 1998 tdi galaxy with 112000 miles to th e good, was a lovely kept car apart from a vibration through the clutc pedal.i was just wondering how normal this is or was there a problem with it, any info on this would be much appreciated. thanks :D Quote
strouf Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 What kind of vibration was that? Did the pedal vibrate while stationary or the function of the clutch was not smooth and the vibration came from the eratic engagement ? Quote
monkeyboy Posted April 30, 2006 Author Report Posted April 30, 2006 whilst driving along i noticed if i rested my foot on the clutch pedal i could feel like what seemed excesive vibrations through it, wasn't sure if it was normal or the signs of bad things to come Quote
Masked Marauder Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 As the clutch is hydraulic it is unlikely to be the clutch... (Yes, I know that sounds daft!) Quote
NikpV Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 does the clutch linkage get close to the steering linkage, if I push my foot up in the footwell I can feel the steering linkage move and sometimes vibrate on a rough road, got an auto so don't have a clutch :D Quote
monkeyboy Posted April 30, 2006 Author Report Posted April 30, 2006 That seems too make sense, thanks alot for the advise, much appreciated!!! Quote
monkeyboy Posted April 30, 2006 Author Report Posted April 30, 2006 so in your oppinion the clutch isnt about to fail by what ive told ya!!! :D Quote
Masked Marauder Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 Nope, it is likely fine (for a 112K clutch, mine is fine and is on 130K). Best way to check the clutch is to do a stall-test and note the biting point. Don't do it too hard if the owner is watching! Quote
monkeyboy Posted April 30, 2006 Author Report Posted April 30, 2006 thanks 4 that, think i might just go back 4 a 2nd look, cheers :D Quote
