greg_68 Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 With petrol consumtion/prices doing my head in and the impending swap to a Picasso diesel [that will do 3 times as many to the gallon as mine] coming, father in law suggested getting a diesel engine and swapping it for my gas guzzler. Is this feasible / practical / economical I ask? Cheers. Quote
mumble_bee Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 I think youd have to get a new tranny too you can get the combo engine + tranny for about 600-800,getting someone to fit them will be the problem. Here in Luton, where there are mechanics aplenty, you could prolly get it done for Quote
bigdaddy Posted May 3, 2006 Report Posted May 3, 2006 Maybe easy to convert if you bought a rear crashed vehicle as the donor car,,,,,,,,, ;) Quote
Masked Marauder Posted May 3, 2006 Report Posted May 3, 2006 You would need the engine, loom, dash, gearbox, radiator, front exhaust up to and including the cat, any relevant air con bits, throttle pedal etc. Possible? Yes. Practical? Well I have to agree with the post above that if you had a heavy rear-ended diesel then quite possibly if your determined enough. Quote
Andrew T Posted May 3, 2006 Report Posted May 3, 2006 Converting your V6 to LPG might be a more realistic proposition. Quote
sepulchrave Posted May 3, 2006 Report Posted May 3, 2006 More realistic to use all that positive energy and enthusiasm to get a promotion/new job with a pay rise to cover the fuel costs! Quote
greg_68 Posted May 4, 2006 Author Report Posted May 4, 2006 You would need the engine, loom, dash, gearbox, radiator, front exhaust up to and including the cat, any relevant air con bits, throttle pedal etc. That'll be a no then <_< Quote
