Guest Matt007 Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 Hey all! Just bought a MK1 Galaxy yesterday, and on the way home the auto climate control was displaying degrees Centigrade, but when I came out to the car this morning and put the c/c on, its now displaying in Fahrenheit. Any one know why its done that, and how to change it back to centigrade??? Many thanks, Matt Quote
strouf Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 Don't know why, the sysem is not excactly famous for it's reliabillity. Anyway , you can switch it back to Celcius by pushing AUTO and ECON simultaneously (oh what a word this is !!) Quote
Masked Marauder Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 I thought that if you unlocked the right hand door it thought it was a right and drive and defaulted to Fahrenheit, unlock it from the left door lock and it thinks it is a left hand drive and goes to Celsius! OK perhaps not..... Quote
strouf Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 OOps...Did not notice , your car's a MK1. so you cannot press those buttons...Sorry, I can't help. What does MK1 or MK2 stand for , by the way ? I mean the letters MK in general. Why MK and not FQ or... Quote

Is there a similar way to convert mine to diesel? Quote
Guest Matt007 Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 Hi, thanks for your suggestions, but nothings changed. When i said MK1 i mean as in the first shape galaxy. Its a 1996 model. :( I tried pressing the auto and econ buttons together at the same time and nothing changed. I even tried the opening the doors from different sides just to see if that done anything, after all, stranger things have happened. LOL So would anyone else have any ideas how to change the c/c back to centigrade instead of Fahrenheit?? Thanks, Matt Quote
NikpV Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 ummm - After seeing the post from strouf I went and tried mine it definitely works fine on a MarkII (MkII)  Quote
Guest Matt007 Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 Its times like this you wish you had the next MK up! LOL Does anyone here actually own one of the first ones?? Quote
NikpV Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 Sorry MKII here but how about holding econ, auto buttons in whilst turning on ignition - or some other combination of buttons on the ATC - bit hit or miss but ..... let us know if you try   Quote
Guest Matt007 Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 Im willing to try most things at the moment. LOL And no, I dont need any rude suggestions thanks  I will give that a try and see what it does in the morning. The only real problem with it is the fact i dont like Fahrenheit. Im used to Degrees C. LOL. Its just strange that its decided to change  Matt Quote
NikpV Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 in the morning in the morning, I thought you were keen to sort it out   :( Quote
Guest Matt007 Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 Its 1AM!!! And Its freezing out there! I dont understand Fahrenheit so i wouldnt know what the heater is set at  LOL Only a few hours to the morning anyway, plus it might give someone the chance to answer whos had this happen to them too. LOL Matt Quote
NikpV Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 Aha - I think on the MkI models the atc unit fascia has a tiny hole, just wide enough to gently insert a pin or toothpick etc. Behind this hole is a little button which toggles the outside temp display between Centigrade and Fahrenheit. - think this was on a 2000 pre-facelift model   so USE THE LITTLE RESET SWITCH in the hole Quote
Guest Matt007 Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 Now i did see what looked like a reset hole/button but didnt want to go pressing it with out knowing what it might do. LOL. Knowing my luck the thing would stop working totally. Matt Quote
