Meanwhile, back on topic......

Whilst I suppose you could replace dampers and springs one at a time if the part failed early in its life due to damage or faulty components, if the parts are older, or have worn out, they should always be replaced in pairs.

As regards springs not wearing, this is not true - they settle in use, and eventually fail due to fatigue. This is why they should also be replaced in pairs.

So am i right in thinking that anything that comes in pairs on the car..and one fails..then technically you should replace both items???like as you say springs etcc???

It really depends on when and what, a spring which failed after 5K would have a manufacturing fault but after 100k then I would replace both, they do creep under load(and temperature cycling) but on a very long time scale. Would not however replace a pair of speakers !!

Not really - it depends upon the part concerned.

Examples of parts which I always replace in sets (or pairs) include: springs, dampers, tyres (unless due to damage and the other is very good), brake pads / shoes, spark plugs (petrol engine only).

Examples of parts which I prefer to change in sets include: tyres, wiper blades, glow plugs, suspension pivot parts.

Examples of parts where this is totally unnecessary include: light bulbs (unless changing headlights to give more light), body / trim parts, etc.

It is on the headlight switch assembly, it is a wheel that you roll up and down to move the headlight aim up and down...

Do you not have a headlamp level adjuster switch on the dash?

usually next to interior light dimmer :o

have you got a manual, it usually tells you what to set it on depending on the load distribution in the car :o
