Hi there

Im new to galaxies and have just bought a 1995 2.0 petrol GLX and im not sure if its running quite right!

I know I sound a little vague here, but the car just seems a little flat during acceleration over 2k revs, almost as if i have a slight misfire. Its not as clear cut as an obvious misfire, it just seems to hold back a little whilst accelerating.

The car starts and ticks over just fine and normal driving is no problem but if you put your foot down a bit it just seems a little sluggish.

Any Ideas?

The Maf.....sounds like it to me anyway...disconnect it and if car is better....then you need a new one

simple to do..just unplug it...then go for a drive..if it runs better..then its naffed...if no different,,then its summit else!! ..then you can reconnect the maf back up knowing that it is ok.

im not techy minded..but i replaced the maf on mine

i have just changed our MAF sensor yesterday, and it is a very easy job.

the difference a faulty sensor makes is amazing.

when we disconnected ours, it was better below 30mph, then after that, there was no difference.

OK, I now know its the mass air flow sensor, and where to find it.

I will try disconnecting tomorrow and see what the results are.

hi there we too have just purchased a 95 2.0 aspen galaxy and it seems to have this hessitant problem i also notice at low speed in 4th and 5th it is very lumpy jerky not smooth , increase or decrease the fuel ( accelerator) it goes smooth again have you noticed this as well , again does any one think this is the m a f.

p.s just been for a spin with the m a f disconected and it seem to dissolve the lumpy problem , but although the acceleration was quicker it was rougher any ideas as this is pointing at two pluses and one minus.

I didnt get round to disconnecting the MAF, I think I just got used to driving it the way it is!

The thing that worries me now is the horrendous fuel consumption im getting. At first I put
