Paul Posted April 26, 2006 Report Posted April 26, 2006 Does anyone know where I can source a replacement Booster Heater Contol Unit? Having replaced a proven faulty Glow Plug and had the error codes reset by the amiable Dave_M, the diagnostic still shows o/c Glow Plug. The suspicion is that the controller may have suffered damage as the original Glow Plug failed. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Best Regards, Paul Quote
Jeff115 Posted April 26, 2006 Report Posted April 26, 2006 Hi Paul,Try here, but you'll need the Eberspacher Model number from the plate on the side of the booster heater e.g. mines a D5WZR Thursby Auto Electrical supplies. Main dealers for Deta Batteries, Eberspacher... I've never heard of the booster control unit failing let alone failing due to glow plug open circuit fault. Have you checked all connections?MM's D5W Trouble shooter may help you also, see here MM's HYDRONIC Trouble shooting and repair Regards,Jeff. P.S. maybe Dave'l let you do a temporary swap to rule out booster controller fault to your satisfaction ;) Quote
NikpV Posted April 26, 2006 Report Posted April 26, 2006 I've never heard of the booster control unit failing let alone failing due to glow plug open circuit fault. When I changed the glowplug on ours I was disappointed to find the one I took out was fine but the connection was just a little loose, at the time I thought it would have made enough of an electrical connection not to be o/c. On closer examination both the supply and the earth are in that single connection the earth DOES NOT run through the heater so that connection has to be TIGHT otherwise you get the o/c dtc. Incidentally we didn't have to have the fault cleared before it started working again.Might be worth 30 mins to check again ;) Quote
