Booked my galaxy in for some warranty work (late 04 tdi with 17000 on the clock), including a second drop link in less than six months.

Is it coming from the main exhaust or from the little aux heater exhaust pipe just in front of the nearside rear wheel ?

I have 130bhp 04 with 23000 on the clock with same problem. dealer has looked at it and states this acceptable. I don`t think it is and it will be going back again and again until they fault it.

The problem only really happens on first start up generally when cold. I think it may be a glow plug problem that is not heating the fuel, as white smoke is generally unburnt fuel. the dealers dont like you telling identifying the fault as they are superior!.

I would be interested to know how you go?

Well i've just picked my car up, NOT Fixed, in fact they had not even taken the car into the service bay......

Apparently the aux heater glowplug and exhaust needed replacing, although i told the service guy that the smoke comes out of the rear of the car and not the side, and that was not an item they keep in stock, so they had to order them in. 'its quite a rare part to go wrong'??????

They did'nt even look at the knocking suspension, its the drop link, even though it was replaced mid november...

Obviously there is no courtesy Car, so its a train into work on Tuesday......

New N/S drop link (2nd one in less than 5 months), new aux heater exhaust and glow plug.

I was out quite late last night, and whilst driving home I had to accelerate quite rapidly to avoid a di**khead in a sooped up Corsa. Noticed quite a bit of white smoke and I
