Steveenduro Posted April 26, 2006 Report Posted April 26, 2006 I changed the coolant recently on my 2000 1.9TDi, I couldn't fill with the correct amount of coolant and assumed that there must have been some water from the flush left in there.Anyway, I've noticed that since the change my Auxilliary heater has stopped working.Does anyone know if there is any reason for a coolant change to affect aux heater. eg, is there a flow sensor or similar?Or is it just a co-incidence, and maybe I should look at glowplug? Masked Marauder Posted April 26, 2006 Report Posted April 26, 2006 Could just be it is too warm for it to come on. Have you tried bridging the external temperature sensor pins (It is clipped to the wiper linkage) and see if it fires up? Quote
Steveenduro Posted April 26, 2006 Author Report Posted April 26, 2006 Thanks MM.I have looked at it during the last cold spell (1-2 Quote
Masked Marauder Posted April 26, 2006 Report Posted April 26, 2006 Well failing that it could be air-locked causing an overheat cut-out or a coincidental failure for another reason. Quote
Jeff115 Posted April 26, 2006 Report Posted April 26, 2006 Hi Steve,I agree with MM's over-heating due to air-lock in coolant circuit extension to booster heater. Coolant temperature sensor inside the booster heater may then prevent the booster starting up. Try bleeding the coolant circuit extension to the booster and auxillary heater at the rear of the car - see herebleed coolant circuit extension at rear by raising front of carRegards,Jeff. Quote
