teresa Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 B) i have been to a local place that does tyres only hes an old friend he had a look at them and said they are one of the harder nuts to remove he cant do them but he has a wheel lock nut remover which he wont use on it but said my fella can go down and he will help him to do it but if the wheels get damaged its on our own backs not his either that or he also suggested chisel ;) Quote
bigdaddy Posted July 21, 2006 Author Report Posted July 21, 2006 YES use the removal tool,,,it is a reverse spline socket,,gentle hammer the socket to the locking bolt and use a breaker bar and turn it anti-clockwise until the removal tool grips and takes your locking bolt off, but you will need a vice or big pair of mole grips to remove the locking bolt from the removal tool,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,ebay locking bolts are only Quote
teresa Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 right update ... 2 garages have tried the locking nut removel tool no luck .... 1 has even tried to chisel it off, broke 2 of his chisels and only bit of nut off i dont know what to try next HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
mumof4 Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 ok...the guy who got mine off used a drill thingy with a reverse helix socket?????i think.. :D Quote
teresa Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 :D yep they tried a helix socket, no luck :( ....... im gonna have to get it sorted otherwise its travel to the meet in a rattling bmw which i dont want :D Quote
mumof4 Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 What about drilling it out???i know the first garage i went to with mine wanted to drill mine out. Quote
teresa Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 they said it wont work because of the steel the nut is made of they said i quote " the only way it can be drilled is turn car on its side have constant water running on nut to keep it cool and then try to slowly drill it off" seems a bit of codswallop to me Quote
Guest neil_wiles Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 Teresa are you a member of the AA or RAC ? They will both use a reverse helix socket to remove the locking nuts. A good tyre fitter will have a set and normally charge about a Quote
teresa Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 no not in RAC or AA have to sort it though.. it was a very good tyre fitter in my town that tried he had the reverse helix it would not shift .......... oh and just called ford to see if they could do anything (as ive been told they have a master key to all 7 designs they do) they said it would be an hrs job quoted Quote
mumof4 Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 Bloody hell!!!!!!....Try a different garage....i dont know what else to suggest..... Quote

mumof4 Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 Mine looks completely different to that...Lemme see.. Here a pic of mine. The pins are actually bent on my locking nut..to get the other tyres changed i will have to get another one. Quote

El Dingo Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 Have you tried soaking with PlusGas? Sorry, it might just help... Or heat the are around the wheel nuts with boiling water, then chill with as cold water as you can and try again. Quote
teresa Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 hi neil yes this is the tool the first tyre place used but it was having none of it     El dingo we have been sparying a release spray on all 4 nuts today gotta go back garage in morning there gonna have another go they also mentioned heating the nut up but i dont want this as they have already damaged my alloys and i dont want it damaging anymore Quote
