Hi all wife went to unlock car this morning and passenger drivers side electric window went down only to the point of where it stops as if something in its way to avoid trapping kids arms and such like. Then she had difficulty getting it to go back up as soon as it came to where it should shut it would go back down to previous point i mentioned.Eventually got it to go back up and stay up by just tap tapping switch so it like only went up say inch at a time.Tried it again tonight didnt happen when you unlocked the car but still happened if you put the window down and went to do it back up again, cant see anything stopping the window actually going up but unless you tap tap the window switch it will come back down again. Is it likely to be a sensor? Any help appreciated

Take a look under the pasenger seat at the module make sure it is not wet and that the conections are tight,When I first got my Sharan I unlocked it and all the window went haywire and after a lot of checking I traced it back to this module, I took all the conections off and undone the a bolt with an earth lead on it cleaned everything and wiggled all the conections when refitting and my problem was solved.

You got nothing to lose give it a try.

Is there a sensor of some sort to stop kids hand's etc getting stuck in window as like i said before it seems to get to the point of shutting up and then drops down like it should as if there was something in the way.Any more info/ideas appreciated thanks.

do you have global locking - apparently the 'excessive force limiter' does not kick in unless windows are closed from inside

Lock the vehicle from the outside, as the excess force limitation doesn't work on the outside. The roll back safety system is not available. This affects all options of the comfort locking

this may isolate the problem if it is the excessive force limiter

also - if the window is tight in its runners it appears that closing for the third time forces the window to close to the 'Obstruction'

Door windows

Over coming resistance with excess force limitation

● Prerequisites: Automatic opening and closing is initialised (programmed)!

● Ignition switched on.

‒ Close door window with window regulator switch (automatic closing).

If the window in the driver's or front passenger's door is impeded because it is tight or through an object during the closing sequence (force limitation intervention) the window will open immediately.

‒ Operate the window lifter switch again.

If the window in the driver's or front passenger's door is impeded because it is tight or through an object during the closing sequence (force limitation) the window will open again.

‒ Operate the window a third time.

Now the window closes as far as the obstruction and stops.

‒ To close the window, press and hold the respective window lifter switch button. The window closes passed the obstruction without using the excessive force limitation until

1. the button is released or

2. blocking recognition (window closed fully) is recognised.

This switch operation must take place within 5 seconds of the window stopping and without interruption from other functions (lowering, raising automatically).

● Ignition switched off.

If the window in the driver's or front passenger's door is impeded because it is tight or through an object during the closing sequence (force limitation intervention) the window will open immediately.

Operations using the interior window regulator switch is now blocked.

If within 1 minute after opening the windows the ignition is switched on and then within 5 seconds the button is operated (closing window), then the procedure is as from the 2nd closure with ignition on.
