mumof4 Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 Any one got a spare locking nut floating around???the pins on mine are foobared. marian. Quote
dave_m Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 i think there are several variations of the same type of locking nut, so your key may not fit another locking nut, make sure the locking nuts are not done up too tight, otherwise they damage really easily Quote
mumof4 Posted April 19, 2006 Author Report Posted April 19, 2006 too late..the guy who changed the wheel damaged the locking nut used to undo the locking nut... Quote
dave_m Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 so is it a Locking Wheel nut key you need then??? Quote
mumof4 Posted April 19, 2006 Author Report Posted April 19, 2006 yup..the one you stick on the nut thats already on the wheel Quote
dave_m Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 they are naff them keys, Mine broke in exactly the same way, one of the pins bent, I had to force a smaller socket onto the rest of the bolts using a big club hammer and undo them (which was a nightmare) and replaced them with normal bolts. I do think the locking wheel nuts and keys have different layouts of pins, maybe someone can confirm this, from a security point of view it would be a bit naff if all the bolts/keys were the same! Justice Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 I use Audi locking bolts and they are almost bomb proof. Quote
Masked Marauder Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 Aye, the configuration of the pins is different on them all. Get a tyre fitter to spin them off with a reverse helix socket and get some Halfords ones, they are really good. Quote
