golfmadman Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 Just had the old Gal serviced, not by an authorised dealer but by a buddy and the service warning is coming on telling me a service is needed in 1200 miles (had it done early due to a horrible noise coming from gearbox). Can someone explain how I can turn it off or does it have to go to Fraud? Quote
Guest radioman Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 1 Ensure ignition is switched off.2 Press and hold the trip meter reset button whilst turning on ignition..3 Hold trip reset until four dashes "----" appear in display and then release the trip button.4 Turn off ignition. Hope this helps. Quote

Andrew T Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 I've always believed you had to open and close the bonnet as part of the reset, did it work without ? Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 I've always believed you had to open ans close the bonnet as part of the reset, did it work without ? From what happens with mine, IIRC if you don't open and close the bonnet before pressing the reset button, the message just goes away temporarily, to return 1000 miles (or so) later. Quote
NikpV Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 never bother with the bonnet thing - certainly didn't come back within 2k miles Quote
DaveM Posted April 24, 2006 Report Posted April 24, 2006 same here, no need for the bonnet to be opened. sometimes need to do it once, twice or three times on mine. it depends on where it is in the service type loop. i.e. LN1 service, LN2 service or OIL if it's time for them all, then you need to repeat three times Quote
Alhambra Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 According to the manual for my wife's 02 Alhambra 1. Ensure ignition is switched off. 2. Press and hold the trip meter reset button whilst turning on ignition. 3. Turn the MINUTE hand of the digital clock to the right 4. Turn off ignition. Indicator has been set to zero. The service indicator cannot be completely set to zero. It can only be set to 15,000km Quote

richto Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 How about on a 2008 Galaxy? You reset the trip milage by holding down the OK menu button on the steering wheel. If I do that when turning the ignition on, it puts it into dashboard test mode, but doesnt reset the service indicator. Quote
