Guest Crusher Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 Hi I'd like to know what people use and why. Prices and experiences would be good. Quote
mumble_bee Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 imo: in order of preference :resolution.inputs.contrast ratio.scan rate. ( which ofcourse would go right up to the top if you were gonna do nothing but watch movies etc.) I use a Dell 2001FP, I only really use 20"+ monitors as I like the space on the desktop. 1600x1200. altho there are some fantastic 1900x1200 res. out there as well - just too pricey for me, and the only game I play (CS) doesnt support widescreen.- I chose this because it does DVI and S-VHS - which I think is cool. in my experience gamers would take a 17" over a 19" (all other specs being equal) because they are both optimised at 1280x1024 and this allows for a sharper image. (altho ofcourse there are a very very few 19"s that do 1600x1200) I've been involved in LCD sales in the UK since 1998 - when 15" NEC LCDs cost Quote
Davetheref Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 Always used NEC myself. Dearer than others but always a class monitor. Quote
Bigjeeze Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 I have a Digimate 19" which has both standard and DVI inputs cost me Quote
Masked Marauder Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 I have two TFT monitors, a Samsung which is good, and a Fujitsu Siemens which is stunning. The FS is a 15" and cost Quote
jkspoff Posted April 24, 2006 Report Posted April 24, 2006 I have an Acer screen, that is excellent but whichever you choose, I recommend this free microsoft program called 'cleartype', it enhances the font (text) on screen. Makes a big difference and easier to read. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloa...ppowertoys.mspx Quote
malcolm.dobell Posted April 26, 2006 Report Posted April 26, 2006 I have a 17" Viewsonic, using the DVi input. Excellent; much better than HP analogue at work Quote

Marky Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 Just bought a 'budget' 19" widescreen from Comet for Quote
El Dingo Posted September 30, 2006 Report Posted September 30, 2006 I have a 19" widescreen, with DVI but only 1440 x 900. IMHO this is a bit coarse. (I used to use a Iiyama Vision Master Pro CRT).I'm saving up for a 20" with 1680 x 1050. Quote
