Radio Problem

I have a strange problem with my radio it is the 5000 model

It works ok during the day but at when I switch on the lights at night it starts to go on and off on for a sec. then off then on etc.

anyone had a problem like this and what is the fix?

I would be double checking the earthing of the radio, the only link between the radio and the lights is the illumination of the controls. It is possible that if the earth on the radio has been lost, during the day time it gets the earth via the illumination and out through the lighting circuit, when the lights are on it no longer has this path. Just try adding a wire from under a screw head on the radio to somewhere on the metal body of the car.

Or cut the illumination wire, pin 2 on the power connector :(

If my theory is correct, cutting the wire would stop it working all of the time !
