Thanks for the info... :D

prob..no mini roundabouts round here

linkage is loose in car!!

no magnets..

isnt there an under tray???does it have to be on a ramp to be taken off??

Posted

what about a fridge magnet, magnetic catch on cupboard door.

I've never done it but I think the undertray can be removed without raising the car. :D

A pressure washer or hose with a nozzle through the grill under the bumper will usually blast anything off the undertray. This lower grill will usually pull out if necessary.

all i can see behind the lower grill is the radiator, had hubby under the car having a look and he cant see anything on the undertray..i can only think that it has got wedged somewhere..but i cant see it..its one of the linkage bol thingies i dropped

Ok..update..got bolt..wasnt on undertray..was hanging off it!!.thanks for all suggestions. :D

Right..you will all be pleased to know that i got the ruddy thing back on again!!..this was after a few hours of trying to fit the bloody thing wondering why it would not fit.

Want to know why it would not fit???

Of course you do so you can have a good laugh coz believe me..my hubby laughed..

Neil rang to say hed come and have a look as to why i could not get the holes to match up..i thought id give it one more go,so draped over the engine bay with linkage in hand,i slipped...which meant linkage dropped a wee bit..when it did the holes lined up!!what was i trying to do??the middle of the linkage where the bolt goes..i was trying to put it on top of the hole instead of under it..

I thought hmm...i had a quick gander on here at the pic i posted (so glad i did now)..realised that id spent the last few hours trying to fit the bloody thing in wrong.

By the time neil arrived i had fit the linkage on..reattached air filter thingy and maf...neil re fitted wipers/black shelf thingy and the rubber bit as i had poorly daughter in arms as shed just woken up..

You can laugh now.I did take sum pics which ill post a bit later... :o :o :(

Got to take out the black box thingy to get linkage out/in....(here is the space where i took it out..

Black box thingy = air filter housing. Lost one of my fittings for the wiper linkage down the same whole, recovered it in the same way.

Right I am off this afternoon and I am going to remove my Linkage....... Hmmm thanks Mumof4 for your thread on this subject..

Do I need to remove the filter housing to get it out? Mine is the linkage with the 3 bolts, any hints or tips you have got about anything to dowith this please post them. I will be regularly checking in...

Many thanks!

You will probably find it easier to take the filter housing out..otherwise it will just be in the way and you may not be able to get the linkage out...

Be gentle with the linkage..take your time.......loads of wd40.....if you do this then it shouldnt break!

loadsa wd40 and time hun......dont try and rush it.things get broke if you do.

ermm..you did take the little clips off the top of the spindles?cant remember the name of them...should be 2 on each..usually one on the base aswell that comes off.

Posted

I did get the half round clips off, but I could only see one on each spindle and that was at the top...There were 2 washers at the bottome of each spindle - got them.... In the proccess of cleaning everything with wd40 and lots of cloth....

Got the spindles out.... Oh my god how they were seized!!!! HAHA 1 - 0 to me!!! Got them out...

On each spindle the bottom inch or so the chrome has come away... Does this matter.... or will the regrease do it...

What is a good material to clean the inside of the thing were the spindle goes into.. any ideas??

Once back in do these babies move easily??

Just poppin to Halfords to get the Copper ease!!

Look forward to your replies.......

I used a normal kitchen metal wire scourer to clean the insides out..once cleaned, regreased....when putting it back in the car ..DONT FORGET TO PUT THE LINKAGE IN THE PARK POSITION
Posted

Woops.... I never looked to see which was the park position.....

Is there a way to tell.....If so please let me know..

Got my copper grease from Halfords.... Was torn between CL grease and coppergrease becasue I have seen both mentioned on this forum...

Cleaning spindles inside and out...

I will get beack to you.....

PS> Thanks for all your help, I could not do this without you! Thanks,,,,, :D

park position is when the wipers are switched off..before fully putting wipers back in..connect it up to the motor..very very very carefully support the linkage where you wont get anything trapped, then turn ignition on so all electrics come on...the linkage should move back into the position they should be in when the wipers are off. That is Park Position.
