am I right in thinking that if one fails the whole system fails? and stops working.

I have the no rear wash wipe spray and no parking sensors(front and rear) could this be connected in any way?

I will have a look when it stips peeing down(again)

Its very suspicious that you have no rear wash wipe coincidentally with no parking sensors, if one becomes defective it seems to disable all the othes on that end, if you have nothing front or back I would be looking under the passenger seat for a swimming pool with a parking sensor control box making a vain attempy at the breasts stroke.....

Do you want the parking sensor control box fitted under the passenger seat - I have one that i'll probably never use. bought it from Fraud at a cost of over 100 quid if i remember rightly. My problem turned out to be a plug not quite on properly due to a stretched wiring loom on one of the front sensors.

Make me an offer if this is what you want, I'm sure prices will vary depending on where you get it from.

Thanks for the offer RichyRich, however it is just one of the sensors on the rear bumper which is faulty. Think I'll have to bite the bullet and head to Ford

Hey people, i'm having problems with the parking sensors on my 02 115 TDi Galaxy Zetec.

When put into reverse or the button on the dash is pushed to turn on the parking sensors the system just emits a steady tone. some times it will stop and beap normally but not for long (couple of seconds if that).

I've checked all the sensors and they all tick when I stick my head next to them so I think they are all working. I also gave them all a wipe over just to make sure it wasn't dirt on the sensors etc. Whilst I was doing this I found that the passenger side sensor on the front (above the fog light) was very loose, to the point that it disappeared into the bumper. D'oh

I've stuck my hand up behind the bumper and found the sensor hanging down and it would appear that the plastic clips that hold it in have snapped on the sensor itself. I can't for the life of me unplug the sensor, can any body tell me how to get it undone?

I've also checked the control unit and it's not damp etc so I'm hoping that is ok.

I suppose the wiring may also be an issue but I don't fancy taking the car apart to check all the wiring just yet.

I'm gonna be busy it seems as the booster heater needs looking at too (was no jet aircraft sound last winter and the engine was taking ages to warm up, hopefully just the glow plug).

I have a 2002 Galaxy 1.9TD Ghia, just reading some of the postings and found others have had the same problem with the rear washer connection coming undone under the passenger footwell ! Resolved now not sure if there is any water damage to the control unit.

The non clicking sensor is the drivers side front, how the chuff do you get at that baby to swap out?

Also anyone any success on buying the spares?

Any help much appreciated.

We have the continuous bleep for 7 or 8 seconds from the rear, nothing from the front and the ominous flashing of the switch on the dash. We have any number of electrical problems with our Galaxy 2.3 Ghia March 2001. Thanks to this thread, I have just about to remove the passenger seat to remove and initially dry out the parking sensor module, part number YM21 15K866 AA, Ford Finis 1111381. Hopefully this will rectify one of the myriad of electrical problems we now have. Thankyou all to a great site, with an invaluable technicle section.

(Have a Microcat image of parts involved - but not sure how to upload - could be temporary restrictions for a new user)

I haven't checked for the clicking. as yet. (Is there any way of checking each sensor ? The part number of the sensor on our Galaxy from 15/04/2000 to 15/042002 is YM21 15K859 BA, Ford Finis 1121129 (same for all 8 pieces 4 at the front and 4 at the rear)

Thanks in advance for any help and I will post my findings..........

i had the same problem with parking sensors not working some months ago .... front and back sensors would not work ... its been recommended in this forum to listen to each sensor for a clicking noise when its ok in my case all the sensors clicked ok.. my only option to locate the fault was to use VAG-com this allowed me to test the all the sensors to locate the faulty unit. my faulty sensor was locate to the rear on the drivers side ..the sensors just clip in but due to the build-up of dirt etc they may be stuck solid . please be careful when buying from ebay there are a number of ultrasonic sensors that look correct for your car but its connector may be the wrong size to fit your plug (thats the mistake I made) . the price from ford is over

How and where did you det to use VAG-com ????

(Diagram now attached)

HI G7enn

if all your ultrasonic sensors are ticking will indicate they are ok most of the time if like me it wont help unfortunately 1 faulty sensor front or back will fail the entire system. then the problem is which one. to change .

to locate my faulty sensor I used VAG-com v704.1 which can be downloaded free off the internet onto a laptop Now for the bad news you will also need a lead to connect the laptop to the cars diagnostic socket bottom of the dash above the accelerator pedal

The lead I used which appears to work on all modules in my cars electronics is made by www.SKPANG.co.uk is the KEY-USB+ duak K Dongle.

G7enn If you have not got VAG-com may be somebody else on this forum who live local can help.

Below if a brief description of how to check your sensors with VAG.com

boot up the laptop and start VAG.com Plug your lead into the laptops usb and the cars Diagnostic socket

turn the cars ignition key until the warning lights display ....... this method has to be used for all modules vag.com will tell you to switch the ignition off when checking the airbags

press Options select usb if you dongle is usb and press test .... if all is ok vag.com will say the connection to the car is ok. ... if not try unplugging the usb connection and plugging back in and testing again..

if the test is ok and you have a connection go to the main page of Vag.com . (if the connection has failed you wont be allowed access)

on the main page on vag.com click the following buttons.....select control module......electronics1.......76-park assist

on entering park assist click on measuring blocks in basic functions

you will see 3 groups off measuring blocks one above the other not showing much of interest at the moment all 3 displaying group 000

click on the + buttons on the first block to 001 this is displaying the distances in mm of all four front ultrasonic sensors volunteer somebody to walk up to a front sensor one of the values seen will change check all 4.

click on the + buttons on the second block to 002 this is displaying the distances in mm of all four rear ultrasonic sensors volunteer somebody to walk up to a rear sensor one of the values seen will change check all 4.

any sensor that fails to change in value or is vastly different from the other 7 will be the faulty unit.

hope this helps

:)

http://www.ross-tech.com/ is where you can download vag.com your main problem is getting a suitable lead ... lots of people on this forum have tried ebay.. it may be worth having a look at http://www.skpang.co.uk/catalog/ this may give you some idea of price you may have to pay ... looking at skpang web site I cannot see my unit . it may be of benefit for you to email them for the most suitable unit for you.

Hello!

We bought a X-reg ford galaxy with front and rear parking sensors today. When we went to look at it for the first time we asked the owner to show us how the parking sensors worked and they were working perfectly. So a week later we went and collected the vehicle. However: when the engine is switched on, nothing happens expect if we are reversing the light on the parking sensory switch flashes and it makes a short noise. After this the noise disappears but if we are going slowly the light still flashes but it does not make a noise. Even is we switch the parking sensors on when going towards the garage, the light flashes but there is no noise.

Not sure what the problem could be as the system seems to be working ok and it seems to be a problem with the sound. Also as it was working when the previous owner showed us, it is difficult to say that it was faulty before. But how could it have developed a fault in a week?

Thanks in advance for any advise.
