kwakzx62003 Posted April 7, 2006 Report Posted April 7, 2006 Can any one please advise me,My wife has a Mondeo 2.0 16v automatic which unfortunately recently over heated on her and instead of pulling over she just caried on driving home,I have removed the head from the car and have found a crack in the head so I need another head this one is finished and fit for the scrap heap. The problem I have got is the wifes Mondeo is a black top and I have managed to find another 2.0 black top head but it has a different part number which I will add in a moment,I have tried looking on the internet to try see if this head will go on the car but cant find anything at all,I have spoken to Ford Technical and they told me to go to a Ford dealer and ask them I did and they were useless they put my registation number into their computer and it came up with a number different to mine,This is probably a long shot some one knowing on here but its worth a try. MY HEAD NUMBER: XS7G-6090-AB NUMBER FOR SALE: 2M5V-6T093-9B Quote
Guest CR1 Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 I need a new head for my 16v 1.8 zetec. and got a used one with a differetn number. it didnt work. I looked around for one with teh same number and was asked several times why I was bothering. Scrap dealers etc all thinnk (at leat my model) they are all the same, and interchangable. My number is 958M 6090 bbthe one I got was teh same except it ended CA a dealer put teh numbers into tehir computer and told me theone I bought was from an Escort. Now, Ford parts dealer told me he THOUGHT, the first block of numbers was the spares catalogue that the car was listed in. The second group was teh basic part number for a head, and teh last digits indicated changes/variations. Virtually everyone I've spoken to feels they head is interchangeble, adn perhaps mine was faulty This post may not help you, but I thought I'd post what I know so that maybe someone else will benefit or come along and fill in the gaps. There is a technical help line at Ford at Quote
Guest neil_wiles Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 The only reference I can find to the numbers on your head is related to the fact that engine number sequence was actually used for a 1.8 escort range. Very strange I have just replaced a cracked head and i will check out the numbers when I get home and post them here for you. Quote
