Hi Folks,

Any help with this appreciated.

Last Aug/Sept (after having it re-gassed about May time) I had a partial loss of gas (whispering noise by the dash). Feared the worst but had it topped up and all has been fine until today when it has happened again, but this time I think it is more than just partial. It was fine this morning, but at lunchtime the climate display flashed for about 10 secs on start up and there is a total loss of any chilling (it was 13.5 C ambient). I really do think that this has been a sudden loss because until lunchtime today chilling has been fine.

There are a few precedents for flashing climate units on this forum so I will probably go for the cheapest option and get it re-gassed again and see what happens, but has anyone any idea what the cause of the occasional gas loss is or what could be going on here please.

Ta.

Often this will happen particularly after the winter because the aircon has not been used much and the seals can dry out and shrink, but once the gas (and lube) escape past the seal the problem is often corrected by this blow-by, the trouble is you lose system pressure and therefore have to re-gas. Hope this helps, it may of course not be the problem this time and you may actually have to replace some seals. ;)

Ummmm, thanks for the reply, trouble is I am aware of the seal drying problem and do run it on full cold occasionally through the winter. Can't figure out how something similar happen at the end of last summer though, only a few months after having it regassed!

Thanks anyway.

Hi All,

It turned out to be a very small crack in the aluminium part of the hose leading to the valve at the fron t of the engine that the gas is injected through.

All fixed now and the regass was done by a machine that did all the nitrogen thing, vacuum etc. Took about 20 mins apparently to go through the full cycle.

Regards.

Oggy.
