I know this has probably been covered before but cannot find it. Anyway My galxy is 13mths old and one of the remote keys will now not work. I have changed both batteries and checked that they are in the right way. The Light still flashes on the key but will not open the doors. Does the Key need to be reprogrammed, or if not do you think it will be covered on the fraud warranty.

this is from a post by seatkid, IIRC you need to program all remote keys that you have

you could fone ford and ask them if key is under warranty,

1. Close all the vehicle doors.

2. Note:

Make sure the door lock cylinder is held in the unlock position for more than 0.5 seconds.

Insert the key into the driver door lock cylinder and turn the key from the rest position to the unlock position three times within five seconds.

3. The door lock light emitting diodes (LED)s will illuminate for 15 seconds during the remote transmitter programming mode, allowing the remote transmitter to be programmed.

4. Remove the key from the driver door lock cylinder and aim the remote transmitter at the interior rear view mirror.

5. Press and hold the LOCK button on the remote transmitter.

6. While holding the LOCK button down, press the UNLOCK button three times on the remote transmitter.

7. Release both buttons simultaneously.

8. Make sure the door lock LEDs flash five times, confirming that the remote transmitter has been programmed.

9. After a remote transmitter has been successfully programmed, the GEM will reset the programming mode, allowing a further 15 seconds to program the next remote transmitter.

10. To program additional remote transmitters, repeat steps 4 to 8.

11. Make sure that all the doors lock and unlock, confirming that the GEM is no longer in programming mode.

12. Test all the programmed remote transmitters, by activating and deactivating the locking and unlocking functions.

I tried reprogramming the key (Key 1) to the instructions above, All worked like it should - the key fob flashed 5 times but the remote still does not work. I have another remote key (Key 2) that works fine, Is the reason that key 1 is not working is because I need to also reprogram key 2 or is it just that key 1 is broken.

Any Ideas gratefully received

Did you see if the door LED flashed? Remote fobs do go dead sometimes. You should also note that if you successful program your fob you will need to do the second one straight after and before the door LED goes out, as programing clears the existing ones from memory.

I think the door flashed but not certain but the working key still works the remote locking, so does this mean I must be doing something wrong

Thanks

No, it simply means the non-working fob did not program.

Why not practice programming with the fob that is know to work?
