Guest JasonGalaxy Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 I know there are lots of threads on this but I can't find the answer to what I need. My Aircon compressor has seized (ie turn on Aircon, belt squeels & burning smell etc). I'm going to fix this by gettin rid of my Gal - (02, 2.3 Zetec) - is there anyway of botching a fix so when I go to part ex it (Ford can have the problem back), if anybody presses the air con button it just lights up without actually kicking (no squeels, & burning smell). I've tried a range of Ford belt to try and by-pass the compressor but can't find the right size, also I'm not sure if by doing this I would cause more problems. Any help ? Quote
bigdaddy Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 You are going to bypass the compressor,,,,,,,trade it back to ford,,,,,,then ford sell it to some unknowing person,,,,,,,,,,,,, I wonder if ford will sue you,,,or just foot the bill themselves  Quote

johnb80 Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 Either drop a wire off the clutch or pull the relay out. Regards - JB Quote
Guest simonlacey88 Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 hi jason i am going through the exact problem i do not want to replace a brand new compressor so i found a friend of mine who is a mobile aircon technican who only today got a new pully and bearing kitfor the galaxy when it came it had only 5 groves in it where it should have had 6 he will get back in touch with me soon and let me know, the company where he gets them from thought it was a 6 grove model so they are trying to find out what is going on, he is spot on i to want rid of the car but as soon as i switch on the aircon the belt squeels and i smell burning even when i dont use the aircon it still does it, the only way of botching it is to remove the compressor completely but that is illeagal because you are purposely making it a dud, you can not fit a shorter belt due to the way all the pullys go, when we phoned ford today to see if they have pully and bearing kitt they say they only sell the compressors F*@~ ing rip off merchants, the guy i am using is a good friend and he is determined that he can just change it he says all of the other aircon compressors for other makes of cars you replace just the parts that are needed, when my aircon went i was determined to just get rid of it because it only squeeled sometimes so i thought the same as you take it to ford and part ex for a new one, when i went to ford for a price for my car they said they take it in and give a look over to give me the fairest price for my car, i know they only do that because of the problems they have with them, let us know what happens, some of the guys on here are a little edgy but i understand excatly what you mean , you dont want to have pay a small fortune for a car you have lost confidence inbest of luck simon(the burning is the bearing seized in the pully thing had mine checked and compressor fine no loss of gas either so it will be a waste to replace all of it) Quote
