mumof4 Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 Can i ask a daft q....why put part worn tyres on a car???wont it cost more in the long run as i assume they wont last as long as a brand new tyre??????and what is classed as part worn??(yes i know been used..but to what extent??) Quote
mumble_bee Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 I usually put part worns on, cause they are hardly used.. some part worn have been used abit but alot of the times they are nearly new. I know on my legend where the tyres cost me 210 each.. I'm better off getting part worn from a regular supplier who knows what I want and I get all 4 for 80 squid. - usually quite new. Quote
gregers Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 as far as i know part worns come off fleet cars that have major servicing carried out so all the tyres are replaced whether needed or not so there punted to a lot of indepentant tyre fitters, ive used part worns on many occasions and checked them b4 there fitted and measured them against the same new tyre and theres only been a slight difference in tyre tread but for less than half the price. Quote
AndeeeH Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 Apparently there is quite a business in sourcing part worns from Germany where I have heard that if you have to replace one tyre they all have to be changed so that the tread depths are the same all round. Costly business but it means that there is a steady supply of what could be nearly new tyres that are illegal in Germany but not here. :D Andy. Quote
