familyman Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 :D sounds like alternator is on way out or connections to battery are dirty +check aux belt is not slipping -how many miles has gal done ,if loads alternator might be best bet Quote
delboyt Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 make sure the battery is the correct one for the jobas sometimes they give you one that's not upto the job in hand.i have had a battery replaced as new then found it was a faulty one.take it back & get another one but make sure it the correct one Quote
tomy Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 How about checking with a multimeter if there is any current being drawn by the car , the battery might be ok but if it has a constant drain it will go flat , you need to connect a multimeter on the amps range to check it with it in series with the battery Quote
Guest wheel975 Posted April 7, 2006 Report Posted April 7, 2006 Hi Alan, I appear to be suffering the same problem. Have got a good battery, Alternater working correctly, but plagued by a constant battery drain. If the car is not used one day, it will not start the next! But no matter how cold the climate is when it does start it is as though the engine is already hot and the fuel warmed, it fires up immediatly and runs a smooth as can be.Are engine heaters fitted?I would be interested in knowing what your problem was or from anyone else who has encountered this type of faulCheers....Mike Quote
Guest Hawker Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 Hi All, This is my first posting so sorry for any forum mistakes. Had the same battery problem, despite car being checked by Ford garage. The AA found a water heating pump constantly running on bulkhead under the bonnet, causing drain on battery. Still waiting to hear form garage, as to full details will let you know. Quote
Bigjeeze Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 Hi All, This is my first posting so sorry for any forum mistakes. Had the same battery problem, despite car being checked by Ford garage. The AA found a water heating pump constantly running on bulkhead under the bonnet, causing drain on battery. Still waiting to hear form garage, as to full details will let you know. Be careful that pump should run for up to 20 mins once the engine has stopped - it's not necessarily a fault. Quote
Guest Hawker Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 Hi, Thanks for that, engine would not start due to flat batery. I guess the pump was still running from just the ignition being turned on to try and start. Once car returns form garage will post again. Thanks again for your reply, no one has said that even the ford garage when dropped off and discussed the problem. Quote
Bigjeeze Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 Have a look at this http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...topic=7510&st=0 Quote
