Hi

I'm quite new to this forum, well I've been using it to fix bits on my Galaxy for some time but have always found what I'm looking for in a search.

I have had a bit of a nightmare with my brake lights on our new '98 galaxy. First of all the brake lights were working when they felt like it. After searching for clues on this forum I changed the brake switch which cured that problem.

Then the high level brake light still did not work, again I searched and found it could be a broken wire where the loom joins the hatch. After checking...bingo! that was that problem fixed too.

Now all the rear lights are working except the hand brake lights. Can anyone shed some 'light' on this?

Normal brake lights work when pressed

Thanks for any help.

Hi memorandum

Thanks for your quick reply

Sorry if this is a silly question. When you say clocks do you mean the speed dial and rev dials? If you do thats funny as both dials are not lighting up. I would have never thought that could stop the handbrake lights working. Thanks for the info.

Where abouts is the handbrake switch by the way?

Yes i mean the dials etc, the bulbs are easily replaced, Lower your steering, 2 screws in the clock surround, remove the surround, then remove the 2 screws on the top of the clocks, twist them down and out, put your hand behind the clocks and pull out the multiplugs, B)

The handbrake switch is under the handbrake rear cover, remove the handbrake plastic cover, you will see the switch, squeeze the 2 lugs together and remove the switch, disconnect the plug, :D

Please remember, the refitting is the reverse of removal  :D

I would check the clocks first, due to you needing to change a few bulbs B) :D

Best of luck B) :D
