Places To Put Stuff..

(On hols now, so time for some stupid trivia...

Where do you put stuff that you cart around the whole time?

 

Stuff like first aid kit, spare light bulbs, reflective vest, bird cage, spare underpants

 

I use the two rear lockers (sorry "boaty" type term) near the tailgate...great for bits and pieces...

 

Are there any secret hiding places in your Gal where you might find, say, a set of Encyclopedia Britannica lurking? B)

Depends on what model you have as the dash storage bins are different as are the door pockets B) I try not to carry to much junk! a spare set of bulbs, a few fuses, pair of gloves, roll of hand wipes, light wieght water proofs, all stashed in the rear pocket by the jack, in the upper glove box a few CD's, lower glove box service books etc, phone charger, under the front seats is the air compressor and tyre sealer kit, rear lidded cuby hole is full of DVD's for the kids what else do you need to carry?

The floor usually contains sticky sweets,stale crisps,The pockets in the back of the seats have a first aid kit,spare pants and nappies plus babywipes and plastic bags.

The glove box has a map,pen,and paracetamol.The doorpockets have sauces in them from domalds.

The rear cubby in the back (which usually houses the changer)currently is full of kiddie books!! B) :lol:

The spare wheel is netted down at the back, with basic tools, reflective vest, waterproofs, walking boots and sledgehammer inside.

 

Between the wheel and the seat in front is a folding chair, Carnopy (look it up), basha, 12v wheel wrench, 2ft ground anchor with straps & carabiners & 100ft of 1000Kg line.

 

The r/h wheel arch houses: Mains invertor, flourescent inspection lamp, fuses & bulbs, cyalume sticks (ideal for emergency road markings), emergency triangle.

 

R/H rear cubby hole houses digital multimeter, polishing cloth, roll of insulation tape, utility knife.

 

Upper glovebox has cd's (all copies, originals at home), lpg filling station map,.

 

Lower glovebox: Fire extinguisher, Cebe mountain dark shades (not for road use), binoculars.

 

Drivers' door pocket: 2 lpg filler adaptors, pair of gloves, bottle of Lucozade & sachet of Metrix (I'm diabetic).

 

Under drivers' seat: laptop.

where the jack is: spare bulbs, 1st aid kit (mainly there in case i hurt myself with model planes), two fluorescent jackets, a plastic sheet & two warning triangles.

 

in the pocket where CD changer goes: jump leads, battery charger for model planes, car battery tester.

 

in boot: 12V air compressor (which has built in lights etc)

 

all passenger doors are empty.

 

the passenger seat pocket (pouch) holds a nice new map (just in case sat nav goes wrong)

 

front, lower glove box, car manual (s), spare fuses, tyre pressure gauge, wheel lock key (the thing used to get the locking nuts off) & some dust caps (all in a bag btw) lol

 

in the top left box, is a torch, and power lead for satnav

middle box, cd case, satnav (sometimes) a little pass card thing i have to leave in my window at work, remote for satnav.

 

drivers door: lmao - a toy eye ball, that u can roll along, and it always looks up and flashes, the mounting bracket thing for satnav, wallet when I'm in the car, keys to wife's tigra, and some caravan keys, and other bits of junk, including endless "pay and display" tickets grrrrrrr.

I can see I need to join the flourescent jacket club and buy one (probably "borrow" one from work actually) as I feel left out not having one!!

 

Glove box: CD's & empty CD cases (all copies - originals in house), spare bulbs and fuses, Screenies and loose wire from glove box light that I need to replace!

 

Driver's door pocket: Ice scraper, bottle of water and on long journeys my wallet goes in there to stop my arse from getting numb!

 

Ash tray: cigarette lighter as the satnav is plugged into the power outlet.

 

Passenger door pocket: no idea - wifes domain - scared to look!

 

Back door pockets: no idea - kids domain - scared to look, even more scared to put hand in!

 

Back side cubby with jack in: jump leads, redex injection cleaner, tow rope, ready mixed washer fluid, brake fluid, waterproof boot liners.

 

In boot: umberella, petrol can, waterproof seat covers.

 

Must get myself a first aid kit though - shall task the wife to do it as she's the organised one!!!

Just been out to look, and found more stuff :ph34r:

 

Apart from a few grands worth of soaking wet kites from yesterday, there is a map behind the driver's seat, a Quechua 2 second tent, a rubber mallet and a box containing: Camping stove, spare gas bottle, teabags, coffee, milk powder, 2 x mess tins, sweeteners, 2 boxes of tomato cup-a-soup, a water bottle, kettle, packet of plastic forks (but no spoons!)

Why?

It would be easy to assume that that was a stupid question, however I will give you the benifit of the doubt and ask a question back.

 

Have you ever seen anyone burn to death because they were trapped and could not get out of a car after an accident caused a small fire that spread rapidly?

 

A 2kg Dry powder extinguisher will easily put out most small fires in a car, the second is for if the first is not enough or fails.

 

So why not? They only cost about

Why aren't all cars already fitted with one (or two!) ? I've carried one around for nearly thirty years...not the same one you understand...the powder becomes compacted...good idea to shake them up occasionally.

I've got an interesting addition...a short plank...no jokes please, there's only one short plank...

 

I got caught out with a puncture in soft mud in my old air-cooled 1975 VW van and now I always carry a plank to stand the jack on. Just a foot long piece of wood spreads the load really well...but ext plywood is probably better.

left-hand rear cubby by rear lights: top-up bottle of the special oil, spare bulbs

right-hand rear cubby: first aid kit, warning triangle, extendable wheel nut wrench and spider, reflective jacket, gloves for changing spare wheel, old rag.

driver's door pocket is full of miscellanea including tub of baby wipes in case birds poo on the car, synthetic chamois, notepad and pen (seen too many people writing details on the back of their cheque book after an accident ...).

 

The baby wipes are to clean the paint with, not to wipe the bird's b#*, by the way :D

I have a small toolbox in the back of the car with a set of torx drivers plus screwdrivers and a disposable camera too - having a phone with a camera is also a help in case of emergency !

 

..and the new job is great, thanks. Leaves me with no time to visit this forum during the day, though.

 

..and birds aren't allowed to poo in the car, only outside ! :D

mines empty of all that stuff and all i need in there for a trip is in abox in the back of my scrote van so if required change from one to other

p.s i even pay some one else to clean it inside and out and dont let the kids eat in it :D as they miss more than they eat :D
