roly1977 Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 hi all i think ive got something wrong with my brakes or have i. When i have to stop quickly i stamp on the pedal it seems very hard and the car just seems to drift to a standstill its not a sharp stop ive never driven a car with ABS is it working or have i got a problem  Quote
chromedome Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 If your brake pedal feels hard it sounds like the servo is not working. Check for leaks in the vacuum pipe to the servo. Quote
Bigjeeze Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 How does the pedal feel other than that? Is it hard on normal braking or just whne you stamp. If the ABS was operating you would feel it through the pedal. A good idea and relativley cheap one is to take it for an MOT and see what if anything they highlight on the braking system. If it's as you say they may well pick it up. Quote
roly1977 Posted March 28, 2006 Author Report Posted March 28, 2006 thanks so far it just feels normal when stopping normaly but if i stamp on it its very hard and there aint full braking Quote
mint Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 Had much the same problem in my 98 Gal. It all came down to master cylinder!!! Not cheap and a right pain to get to. Found that the fluid was contaminated as well. Worth checking. MINT. Quote
