mumof4 Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 Are the gears supposed to clunk into their respective slots when changing gear??? its not exactly a nice smooth transission from one hole to the other.the gear stick clunks. Quote
tim-spam Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 All VAG 6 speed gearboxes tend to clunk slightly when changine gear, especially when cold. Not usually a problem, and they seem to last the course well enough. Quote
johnb80 Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 Try changing the gearbox oil in order to double check the correct oil is in there or even try pressing the clutch down when changing gear :D Quote
greg_68 Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 its not exactly a nice smooth transission from one hole to the other. :D couldn't resist it. Quote
mumof4 Posted March 28, 2006 Author Report Posted March 28, 2006 or even try pressing the clutch down when changing gear Cheeky bugger!! Try changing the gearbox oil in order to double check the correct oil is in there Gear box oil???never heard of that! :D Oh boy..i did it again.......thanks greg!! :D :D Quote
Bigjeeze Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 Perhaps if we find someone on the forum who speaks "Mum" that would help. We need to relate what we are saying so that Mumof4 can understand it. Oil - Baby Oil Grease - Vaseline or Sudocrem Filter - Nappy or Pamper Gear Box - Like a mixing bowl you put in the ingredients and mix them up! Clutch - a means of disengaging drive - Saying no to Hubby and so on!! As you can see I have only a basic knowlege of "Mum" Perhaps one of our female members can do a translation for her!! :D Quote
johnb80 Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 I think any potential get together could get a bit volatile if we updet mumof4 :D steady chaps, go easy. Quote
mumof4 Posted March 28, 2006 Author Report Posted March 28, 2006 Im not volatile :D So when i change the filter,i have to oil and grease the rear...then engage clutch when hubby wants to accelerate or change gear? :D    Quote
greggles Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 mine does the same thing from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd but only changing up seems to get better when engine heats up..................... Quote
El Dingo Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 Mof4 - did you buy a clunker? So many things wrong with your Galaxy! The manual six speed box is a well known for it's notchy change, especially when cold, and especially into second from first. They do get less notchy over time. Quote
