mumof4 Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 Excuse me but i know what an F60 looks like!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, and mumof4 the Ferrari F60 is AKA the Enzo, and that is CATEGORICALLY NOT a hideous car, you're thinking of the crummy F50! Just coz im female does not mean i dont know what it looks like!! :D  compared to the f40, the f60 is gopping IN MY OPINION,It may be more powerful, but i like the F40. Quote
mumble_bee Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 I dont know 1 ferrari from another - I'm a guy - maybe for every guy thats uninterested in these things - theres a lass who is ? Quote
tim-spam Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 Just a few points to add / clarify:1) Having ABS does not automatically mean that you have traction control. My Alhambra has ABS (as all do) but no traction control - in fact, this is the most common setup.2) It is true that traction is the limiting factor for acceleration from a standstill, and that the diesel (having more torque) is at least as prone to this as the VR6. However, for acceleration at higher speeds (for example overtaking another vehicle at doing 50 mph), more power could indeed be very useful. Unless the power and torque were increased to an enormous extent, there should be little problem with traction at higher speeds on a good surface.3) It is also true that improving the roadholding and handling of a car probably has a greater effect on A to B times than just straight line performance, and gives an extra safety margin. I have to say, however, that for an MPV, the Alhambra handles very well - certainly streets ahead of some of the competition I've driven. Quote
johnb80 Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 I'd agree with most of your points, it just seems to me that if a VR6 doesn't develop enough power then you've made the wrong choice of vehicle. Regards - JB Quote
ALARM MAN Posted April 1, 2006 Report Posted April 1, 2006 Hiya all, hope all is well? Little help needed please. I have a MKII Ford Galaxy v6 auto and was wondering if anyone knew of best engine upgrade options to boost the power :D , I believe currently running about 204bhp. I have heard of engine remaps, better air filters and exhausts. Anyone done this and if so any idea on costs and impact etc. Thanks in advance for your time. Best regards Terry Put some petrol in the go like stink then  Quote
Denis Posted April 1, 2006 Report Posted April 1, 2006 I'm not sure if it benefits the Mk1 170 bhp engine but the later one (according to the owners manual) is meant to give better economy and more power if you use Super Unleaded petrol. It's been discussed on here before and the claims re. economy are doubtful, unless anyone has done some comparisons on a rolling road we'll have to speculate about the power improvement- if any. I usually fill mine up with Super, it seems to run more smoothly on that. Shame about the cost of some brands though, especially Shell Optimax!! B) Quote
Guest marcusheawood Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 Ah, yes the 'old' super unleaded chestnut...well all it does is allow the ECU to run slightly more ignition advance before the knock sensor kicks in and forces it to retard it again. Bingo - slightly more power and torque, but the increase is VERY slight TBH and not worth the extra money you paid at the pump! Good Ol' jb, finally I get the rise I deserve; All my hard work is not in vain! Mate, if you would only scuttle off to the Off-Topic areas and peddle your irrelevant opinions somewhere where your humourless dribblings might be appreciated, this 'noob' was simply trying to impart some relevant TECHNICAL advice and experience to those who sought and might appreciate it.FYI the V6 Gal in either Mark I or Mark II variant is far from the Tarmac Tearing Terror you fear so deeply, in fact compared to your Soot Spurting Tractor it is rather quiet, smooth and civilized and lacking somewhat in bottom-end grunt when fully laden. I was trying to help.Haranguing (get a dictionary now) me for my irritation at your OT antics singles you out as a pedagogue pedant with a penchant for masturbatory monologues  At least I can read and write (I before E EXCEPT after C?) and I admit to being a dickhead; although not for any of the reasons your rather dim little candle might illuminate for you! And last, but not least; Mumof4, I like the F40 too, but what does your keen visual aesthetic tell you about the F50 and have you seen the FXX?Methinks you bang on too much about being 'A Lady', I think you might be a moustachioed cybertransvestite, you're overcompensating a little too obviously - mate. Quote
johnb80 Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 Oh well it was nice on here while it lasted, I'm not staying round here to be insulted by tw*ts like this. Time to start another forum with a moderator. Tara - JB Quote
tim-spam Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 Seriously though, is there a moderator somewhere out there? I think that some of the recent posts are totally unacceptable and in the wrong place, and should be deleted ASAP. If people want to rant and rave at, and insult each other like overgrown kids, they should choose a more appropriate channel. So, basically, if you are prone to resorting to foul language and abuse against any who may take a different viewpoint from yourself, STAY AWAY. Quote
mumof4 Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 Im a what??a cybertransvestite???with a moustache???Not bad as insults go...heard worse though. :P (better get the razor out methinks. ) Jb...you better not go...i like you and everyone else on here who insult me no end and take the micky coz half the time i need help!!Glad i did not read that post last night as i was in a right foul mood. greg_68 Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 You'd better take that back........she's a lady Although I find all the insults very childish and quite rude considering none of you actually know or have even seen each other am I the only one who gets quite excited by a good row. Goes along with watching motor sport only hoping to see a good smash. Anyway heres mo4 on holiday last year just to prove you wrong. p.s went to see little britain live last week, if you like the programme go and see it live, absolutely superb. p.p.s John I am sure you are a big enough not to be bullied off the site by anyones stupid comments, as with all participants this site only survives with people such as yourself that regularly post. At the end of the day who cares if your advice is right or wrong, you are entitled to give it and people should either receive it or ignore but please don't leave, you have to stand up to things like this not run away. You haven't been around for quite a while and almost the first thing you do is take umbrage at someone's opinion. Highly unreasonable. B) You seem to feel that you are in some way superior in both intellect and ability and yet you still feel the need to belittle people. Why not do what you do best - comment, advise and otherwise illuminate with your undoubted mechanical expertise but leave the personal jibes and insults out? :P Bit about mumof4 removed as it was wrong!! Apologies to Marcus. Just calm it down and keep the rhythm. :P Quote
Guest marcusheawood Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 Whoops! Look - I have a problem with jb, he's been rude to me before and I DID NOT START ANY SWEARING OR INSULTS, read the thread, look at the useful info I posted, read the infantile idiocy jb posted KNOWING FULL WELL he'd tweak my tail, MY PUT DOWN WAS JUSTIFIED after language like that...it didn't come from me! I simply cannot believe that my tongue in cheek riposte to mumof4 has been SO wilfully misunderstood - read it again, there is no implied insult there IT'S HUMOUR! A play on the Little Britain joke WTF is wrong with you lot? What about my super unleaded info? irrelevant? THIS IS A TECHNICAL FORUM! I'm being techy, so I've been away working for a while, I didn't expect to come home and find the CAT f**cking my wife, mice in the fridge and the house on fire. So I'm smart, SUE ME, if you want stupid use MSN bloody messenger! I TRIED TO HELP THE OP, I STAYED ON-TOPIC, I LOST MY TEMPER WITH JB HE'S MAD... FACE IT! Quote

Really, this is the first bit that got personal and it seems to have come from someone with the same name as you. ...and FFS jb why are you still trotting out the same old drivel about a V6 Sharan being too powerful then using that same sharp intake of breath to tell us about your TDi Tyre shredding antics! Get consistant will ya In fact just go and get a nice mug of Horlicks and take your tablets! Not an issue any more, you'll see why later! Quote
mumble_bee Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 you 2 need to get some REAL LIFE enemies...I have a few too many -and I dont mind lending you 1 each. Quote

I was putting forward genuine concerns about the ability of the Gal to put the power down onto the road, suggesting that it may be better to put down efficiently what power you already have instead of losing it in wheelspin etc. Assuming you can get the power down is the Gal the right vehicle for this? do passengers appreciate being thrown around etc. You started the ffs, referring to my points as drivel, going on about my 1 spooling mistok and being generally derogatory, I never once made comment about your suggestions. So there's the challenge, where was I rude to you before? Quote
Guest marcusheawood Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 FFS! Whatever is wrong with saying ffs? You are such a wind-up merchant, here's this thread with real VR6 owners discussing practical (read TECHNICAL) ways to improve flexibility and economy and you and the comedy gang come in and HIJACK IT with a load of irrelevant nonsense about a vehicle you don't even own or drive! Of course I'm p**sed off, this is very far from the first time you've done this. As usual the actual purpose of this forum gets muddied by all this he said/she said bulls**t. I will not indulge you with a trip down memory lane, suffice to say that I know that your stock-in trade are meaningless generalisations and ROSPA stereotype knee-jerk reactions. We are not a bunch of Max Power kiddies simply because we drive 2.8 litre V6's; it is actually my wife who uses it ALL the time to chauffeur our three children and two dogs around the countryside, I drive a beat up old diesel van incapable of easily exceeding the national speed limit. However I am a grown-up jb, as you damn well ought to be by now, this is NOT Primary school and if you come looking for a row you'll bloody well get one! Now; if you have a TECHNICAL problem I will try to offer you some good advice and hard won know how, otherwise go get some spyware by finding friends your own age elsewhere; I have enough friends thank you. Quote
johnb80 Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 No, not looking for a row just doubted I had ever been derogatory to you before and your total lack of 'evidence' sort of proves what I thought. As to you being grown up, I'm sure many of the other will have formed an opinion about that and come to a conclusion that differs significantly from yours. Don't worry, you can soon have this forum all to yourself and even then you'll probably fall out with it's only member :D Regards - JB Quote
Guest marcusheawood Posted April 5, 2006 Report Posted April 5, 2006 Jesus you are such a PENIS! Quote
