Guest memorandum Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 Please forgive me,,,,,,,I have a non-working brake light switch, and i have searched lots of topics, about the switch. Can I confirm, that all I do is twist the switch clockwise and out it comes. Thank you, for all your help. Cheers mike :D Quote
johnb80 Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 I beleive thats pretty much whats needed. You will apparently need the patience of a saint and the persistance of a mother-in-law as well as stick plasters for your bleeding knuckles :D Good luck - JB Quote
Guest memorandum Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 Thanks, johnb, maybe i should get the motherinlaw to change the switch  :D  Quote
Guest galaxykid Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 Although it's advisable to change it :D as it will fail again :D have you tried resetting it? the old style switches can be reset  push the pedal down to it's maximum travel, then pull the plunger out of the switch to it's maximum length, then release the pedal and thats it done  if this works it should last you a couple of days till you can replace it! Guest Donphan Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 I changed the switch in my fiesta on sunday. Piece of cake to change (however i do have skinny little hands.)Just twist it about a quater of a turn and it will lift out, it comes out enough for you to see what your doing when un plugging it.Then plug the new one in slot it back into the hole. Hold the pedal at the top and push the switch as far down as it will go before turning it again to secure it in position. Then start your engine and get someone to watch the lights as you test it.I assume it will be the same. Jonny Quote
