Hi All

Well my 1997 Tdi finally gave up on me a couple of weeks ago! I posted last year about the deisel injector pump needing replacd after it all went horribly wrong down in Marsaille. Well that cost me over

Sorry to hear it was a cracked block, you aren't having a lot of luck. I don't think you'll have much luck in fitting a different manufacturers engine, unless it happens to be one of the VW derivatives. However can I make the suggestion that you ask your Garage man if a short engine is available. That would be the Block and Crank, retaining the head and ancillaries from you old engine, this may, even with the cost of the Garage transferring ancilliaries over, work out cheaper than a reconditioned full engine. From what I undertsand you live in Switzerland, it may be an idea to try and source this from Germany, after all VW Diesels are ten a penny there, whilst they attract a premium in the UK.

Hi

Thanks for the replies. No not a lot of luck at my end but to be honest I tend to think that maybe my driving style Isn't suited to a deisel galaxy. I love the car to bits but I do tend to be foot to the floor on the motorways. Mind you in saying that I always stick pretty much to the speed limits when not on the motorway which is 75% of the time!

I read your reply too late for ebay I'm afraid but the unit would have been perfect and I would have bought at that price. So still looking. I actually live in the French Alps but you are right maybe sourcing an engine in Germany would be an option. I will look into that this week.

Cheers

Mark
