galaxy_1.9TD_Zetec Posted April 27, 2006 Report Posted April 27, 2006 Here is Scotland, the guys even help you unload the heaviest of bags of rubble or tree cuttings, obviously hoping for a wee bottle of the strong stuff at Christmas !! No height restrictions. In Rep of Ireland, you have to pay euro5 for a boot load of garden rubish, euro8 for a small van load etc etc. Do dump any other stuff in Rep of I, you just gotta squeeze it into your wheely bin each week or, ......fly tip !! Guest MATT jr Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 :( :D ok, so mum decided to trim a few plants & trees, out comes the trailer, and off goes Matt Junior, to the tip. pulls up, and the "head man" comes to him with a form. i read it, and now in August, if you bring rubbish in anything other than a car, you have to apply to the council, or else you wont be able to dispose of your rubbish their. i think its well over the top! the car is hard enough to keep clean anyway, the last thing i want is plant waste in my car! soil, leaves, twigs, spiders & other little creatures  its only a matter of time, before they have airport style security! (which is crap) MJR Quote

Ogben Schmutzel Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 Saw a job advert in our local paper for one of the people that wanders around in the skips at our local tip telling people where to put their rubbish - or perhaps more accurately, where they can't put it!! They are paid over Quote
mumof4 Posted May 13, 2006 Report Posted May 13, 2006 By todays standards, 20k isnt a lot really....more than some and less than some.teachers i think (or used to)get paid less for teaching our little horrors!!!!!!! ;) Quote
NikpV Posted May 13, 2006 Report Posted May 13, 2006 teachers start at 20k - rising to 30k over 6 years before the myriad of supplements, advanced skills, upper pay spine and teaching and learning allowances on average after 10 years about 34k umm what do you think? Quote

mumof4 Posted May 13, 2006 Report Posted May 13, 2006 thickos???????You teach learners to drive.....well...so far ive found that i have a lot of sympathy for learners on the road and usually i can tell how long they have been learning for.But calling em thickos i think is a bit strong.we all got to start somewhere and relearn hand eye coordination!! Quote
Guest MATT Posted May 13, 2006 Report Posted May 13, 2006 im fully aware of that. its when you get people who ignore you, do what they like, parents keep putting then in for tests when their NOT READY, they fail, they shout at me. sick of it MATT Quote

mumof4 Posted May 13, 2006 Report Posted May 13, 2006 I know that mo old teach worked from 7 in the morn to 9 at night 6 days a week, sometimes 7 if he had tests on a monday. He used to work with BSM,but left as he said that he had to pay them 500 a week just for the privalaige of their name/car etc...He works long hours but his costs are competitive as he charges 18 an hour, which is the lowest round here.He would get frustrated at people forgetting or probs with the car which took it off the road...every hour its off the road is less money to earn. One time the car went off the road an hour b4 a test,so not only did he lose that hour..he had to refund the test fee to the person taking the test, then he lost 3 days as that is how long the car was off the road for.Its a hard job made glamourous by all the advertisements of making hundreds a week.If you want to work less hours=higher lesson fees=less students=lost money!. Quote
Masked Marauder Posted May 13, 2006 Report Posted May 13, 2006 Just out of interest, WTF do driving instructors take their students to the local industrial estate to practice? Is it because they like to get in the way of everyone who is there to work? Quote
Guest MATT Posted May 13, 2006 Report Posted May 13, 2006 Just out of interest, WTF do driving instructors take their students to the local industrial estate to practice? Is it because they like to get in the way of everyone who is there to work? again - trying to please both worlds. when you get learners who simply cant drive, thats where they end up. we've got our own private ground for that tho :( MATT Quote
