Guest nomechanic Posted March 22, 2006 Report Posted March 22, 2006 :D Hi everyone, new to this today, got really excited cos I thought I had found someone with the same problems as me. Had car 3 years and its been brilliant, driving along busy A road doing 60 and the engine cuts, rev counter died but after a few worrying seconds it all came back again. Got closer to home and it cut out again, took quite a few goes but got it going again. Got even closer to home went again but this time I could not get it to start. Got a mate to come out and jump started itand it got me home again. Worked ok for a couple of days and then wont start up. Broken down again this morning, lost all power. Tries to start now but cant, rev counter flies up high then goes off then 3 beeps heard, imobiliser light in driver door flashing like mad. Read it may be the Relay Number 30 problem but when I look to the fuse panel I cant see it. Hand book says relays are 1-27 only - no mention of Relay 30! Really appreciate the help - usual problem, lack of money, car now not starting and not near my house, local mechanic says he is baffled - can not find mechanical problem thinks its electrical. Mentioned the relay and he says if I can find out where it is he will do it. Thank for your help. Diane PS hope you dont mind but I copied the picture from another member as it is the same layout. Andrew T Posted March 22, 2006 Report Posted March 22, 2006 I've asked this question myself as I wanted to change this relay as a precaution, but as far as I know there is no Relay 30 on the MK2. Quote
Guest nomechanic Posted March 22, 2006 Report Posted March 22, 2006 Tried to search all morning, only picture was the one I pinched for this posting. I have searched other sites as well and am concerned that I cant find it mentioned either. Need my car - cry cry - What are you going to do Andrew? Thanks for the welcome Mumof4. Quote
Andrew T Posted March 22, 2006 Report Posted March 22, 2006 What are you going to do Andrew? Hope it never goes wrong ! If someone could clarify what relay 30 does on the Mk1 then it should be possible to trace which relay on the Mk2 performs the same same function. Quote
Steven.Langdale Posted March 22, 2006 Report Posted March 22, 2006 All Relay 30 on the MK1 is called (in TIS) K108 (Power relay). There IS a K108 (Power Relay) on the MKII, and also the MKI post '98 model. It is also called R27 on the MKI post '98 and C39 on the MKII. It "appears" to do the same thing and is the top right relay on the BOTTOM relay panel. How you actually get to the bottom relay problem is beyond me atm :D It looks like a few screws and it all drops down... Though this has been covered before i'm sure. Good luck Steven Quote
Guest nomechanic Posted March 24, 2006 Report Posted March 24, 2006  Good news. Got the Relay 30 and it's up and running, phew what a relief thank you all so very very much. Fords laughed at blonde female asking for parts according to a website - "what you trying to fix your car by internet! - ha ha! " well up yours matey cos I did! Manual did not show that the car had a relay 30 so it was a bit of a gamble but to be fair at Quote
bigdaddy Posted March 24, 2006 Report Posted March 24, 2006 I am glad its all now working for you  Quote
