I am either going to sell my VR6 Sharan and buy a diesel or get a gas conversion, If I were to go down the Tdi route what is the best engine to go for, any help would be grand  .

If you want Auto, you don't have a choice it's 115 only. Having said that I haven't had any complaints at all about mine. Going manual you can have any, all the way up to the 150. It has been said a few times that the 115 is smoother than the others but I can't comment on that.

I have a 115 Manual and it's performance is fine.

If you want a true performance car you A. wouldnt buy a Gal, and B. wouldn't buy a diesel

I bought a totally bog standard 115 as anything even a little bit 'special' always seems to cost loads more in spare parts etc - as mine is a 'bus' mainly to ferry the kids around it does the job just fine.

I also have a PD 115 six speed manual and apart from the usual Galaxy glitches is fine.

I would though consider looking at the LPG conversion - it could be cheaper than changing, and at least the one you have now should have had all the problems ironed out, Plus Dear Mr Brown has said you will probably not have to pay Road Fund with LPG :D

well, from previous view and thoughts on this forum, i thought the following...

115 fine

130 better

150 not much difference? - although not sure if ecu was holding back, until the engine has been run in?

Should not be yours though, you should be looking at a reduction I think, although the full list is not out yet.

EDIT: yours should be in band D,

There have been some suggestions that 150 bhp was a step too far for the engine, with a number blowing up eg in the Golf. However, if true, it is possible that they were being thrashed as the 150 bhp has appeal as a Diesel GTI.

Most likely they were forgetting it was a diesel and changing down too soon...... :(

After loads of looking I couldn't find a TDi I liked with the money I had so plumped for an 03 tdci Mondeo estate Ghia Auto which I picked up for 3.5k because of high milage (134k) obviousley all motorway miles.

Thanks for the advice though guys.
