Guest arabjazzie Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 Can anyone shed any light with a running problem that has developed on my Galaxy. Up until Tuesday, its never caused me any problems with the engine, but my easy 8 mile trip home became a bit of an adventure. Sat it running for 15 minutes then headed for home, 3 miles along it gave a big kick. Another mile on the engine cut and the rev counter died, but started running again after a couple of seconds! Nearer home, it died completely and wouldnt start for a couple of minutes. Fuel pump was still working, but after a couple of failed starts, there was 3 beeps!!! Just about to give up and walk and it started!!!!!Now tonight, after a couple of days of missing and one cut/rev counter failure, it started but didnt run then failed to start. Only thing is, there was a clicking, like a relay from below the dash and the led in the door was flashing. 4 atempts and it started as if nothing was ever wrong!!!TIAGeoff Quote
Topbloke Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 possible relay no 30 fault, try a search as its been covered before (not uncommon) Quote
bigdaddy Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 Agree with Topbloke,,,,,,Relay 30 is the main power relay,,,,,Very Common Failure Quote
Guest arabjazzie Posted March 19, 2006 Report Posted March 19, 2006 Cheers for that guys! After my second search, i found somebody years ago who had the very same problem! So relay no 30 was obtained from the local Ford dealer, who couldnt find it initially, and fitted! yes it was a PITA to get at, but it seems to have cured the fault. It seems to have been a hidden fault for a while though, cause my coolant temp gauge now seems to work as it should!!! Quote
