Guest Hunty Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 Can anyone help I own a 2litre 1996 ford galaxy with 90000 miles completed. However this week we have been having a couple of unexpected noises. First of all when you change gear between first and second there is a clunking noise. But also there seems to be a loss of power in first and second and the revving noise seems alot louder than normal however the rev counter is revving normally. Has anyone had this problem before, or is it as I fear I need a new gear box. Kind Regards Richard Quote
gregers Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 open bonnet grab hold of engine if it moves easily then as said its the roll restrictor,do a search has been covered before. Quote
katman Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 I would go along with that diagnosis as well. A few weeks ago I hit a speed bump and sheared the bolt. First noticable as a clonk when accelerating and decelerating then noticed more engine noise as the exhaust ws pressed against something. Regards Keith Quote
Guest Hunty Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 Thanks for your replies just been to the garage and they have said its the roll restrictor, but haven't got one any idea of costs of it? Kind Regards Richard Quote
Bigjeeze Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 It depends - In most cases the bolts will have sheared - Usuall within the roll restrictor itself - but this can uaually be removed using a stud remover/eeziout - or in my case I just used a pair of grips. If the roll restrictor is broekn they cost around Quote
