Help Auto Trans Oil

Asking this question for a frind who has not got access to the net, he's got a UK 97 Galaxcy 2.2 automatic that has two problems, first he can't select gear without manually releasing the lever lock, the second is that a garage told him that a special machine is needed to top up the transmission oil, is that so or just a stich up, any advice I would be greatful.

To change or top up the oil it needs to be at the right temp which is read through the dianostic port,to change or top up the oil itself no special machine is needed but it is not just a matter of pouring oil in.

Thanks Justice,is the topping up of the oil like it was on the Granada, ie engine warm and idling,pull stick and top up as required,sorry to be a pain but I can't get about myself to have a look. is the lock on the lever cable or electric.

its not got a dipstick,,,,do a search this has been covered before many times

Got the lever lock sorted,now could someone please tell me how I can top up the ATF as I could find nothing by doing a search.
