Guest Marc90125 Posted September 1, 2003 Report Posted September 1, 2003 Has any one replaced the space saver spare type with a full size alloy ['98 Ghia X - tyre 215/55/16]. If it fits any one got an alloy for sale? Quote
Guest Boggler Posted September 1, 2003 Report Posted September 1, 2003 For some reason some of the alloys wheels came with a steel spare (couple of quid profit for someone perhaps). I've got 215/60/15's on mine on alloys, including an alloy spare, so it will fit. Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted September 7, 2003 Report Posted September 7, 2003 Don't think that Galaxy ever came with a space-saver; some alloy wheeled vehicles come with a steel spare wheel, but it is fitted with a full-sized tyre.Personally I would never buy a car with a space-saver spare - when you need to use it, you usually really do need it (e.g. in the middle of a french market with 5 people and all luggage aboard, 2 hours to get to ferry and 100 miles to do...) Quote
Guest Marc90125 Posted September 12, 2003 Report Posted September 12, 2003 OK I wasn't very clear, the alloys have 215/55/16 tyres on but the spare, and it is a steel rim, has a 205 tyre and 2 yellow stickers '50mph max'. If I can get an alloy then fine, if not I'll fit a 215 to the steel. Anyone know where can I get a matching alloy? Quote
Guest Boggler Posted September 12, 2003 Report Posted September 12, 2003 Sounds like somebodies been on an extreme cost cutting exercise, putting a 205 on a steel rim when you have 215's. Do you know where the Alloys came from? Where they originally fitted by Ford? If so you may be able to get one there, or at least they could tell you who supplied them. If they are an aftermarket fitment is there any markings on them? There should at least be an E symbol marking, on mine this is stamped into the alloy behind the centre caps, you may be lucky and find a manufacturers name there. Quote
Guest Marc90125 Posted September 12, 2003 Report Posted September 12, 2003 It's the Ford standard alloy fitted as original equipment to the 98 Ghia X, sort of a five spoke design with the cutouts arcing between the spokes. I don't really want to pay Ford's prices which is why I'm looking for a second user rim. Quote
Guest Marc90125 Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 Attached is a pic of the alloy. Quote
