Guest dazleeds1 Posted March 12, 2006 Report Posted March 12, 2006 Hi Folks, The car (99 Ka) has just had the head removed to get the spark plugs out. It's had helicoils fitted and the car now runs fine except for the bleedin tapetty noise it makes - like a large sewing machine. I would like to think that this is just a question of adjusting the tappets but the job was done by a garage and I cannot believe they would return the car without having done the basics. Any thoughts as to why it would now sound like this - there was no such noise when it went in and only has 40K on the clock. Thanks in advance for any pointers. I would like to make some constructive comments to the garage rather than ripping their heads off, at least initially anyway. CheersDazleeds1
mumof4 Posted March 12, 2006 Report Posted March 12, 2006 Id take it back and just tell them what is happening!!see what they say, welcome to the forum :D
fiestaperson Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 I agree it sounds like a dicky hydraulic tappet to me. Bearing in mind the fact the head had been off it is not beyond the bounds of possibility that one has gone wrong.
