Any ideas anyone?

My Gal has developed a temperamental heating issue. Whilst stationary the heating is ok, but not as hot as it should be, but the moment that we drive, the temp guage goes down and the heating goes colder. I have also noticed that the fuel gauge needle is acting a bit eratic. Poss earthing prob?

I have got a new thermostat, but it looks like the previous owner had this idea, but has

rounded off the bottom torx bolt, so god only knows how i will get that out.

Do you reckon the heater issue is the thermostat or are there any other ideas?

Omg :D

Well, got a replacement thermostat and decided to have a go at swapping today.

Have you ever had one of those jobs that you wished you never started.....

Remove the battery, battery upper tray surrounds and many many pipes and wires. Get to the offending part to find that someone (the previous owner) had obviously had the same idea and unsuccesfully tried to get one of the bolts out, rounding it off in the process.

So i have to remove the battery tray. As i loosen and remove the last bolt i find out the the engine mount is fixed to the underside of the battery tray. So the engine mount drops to one side....

So 3 hours later i have finally managed to get the chewed up bolt out and have changed the thermostat, re-attached the engine mount and generally ballsed it all up....

Just waiting now to see if it has made a difference.

So tonight i intend to cut my hair ( i look like a hippy at the mo) have a very hot shower and then get drunk.

I think i deserve it.

And there was me thinking Fords were easy to work on!!! :D

You need to get a TIS disc or a Haynes ,,,,,, it tells you in there,,,,that the battery tray holds a gearbox mount in place :D

One of the above may prevent little accidents, ,,,,,,,, like the one you had :D

I think it only fair to agree with mumof4 - women do tend to read the instructions - because they know that is correct - and that a smart man will have written them!!! :D
