KP 115 Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 seaking advice !is it advisable to use a flushing oil in the PD engine prior to an oil change many thanks in advancekeith. Quote
Guest T120 Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 I would not recomend it.I had mine done but there must have been some left in the system and the tappets realy clattered so dumped the lot and refilled ran for a day then refilled now OK. Quote
Masked Marauder Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 No, don't even take the top off the bottle! When you change the oil in a VW TDi engine you can not get all the old oil out, half a litre or so stays in. This means any flushing oil or product will contaminate the new oil in too high a concentration to be safe with the high pressure in the PD engine. Quote

Guest T120 Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 dear alljust a quick one if its done on ramps at the front you will be suprised how much oil comes out as the sump plug is at the rear and slightly up the sump so when on ramp it is nearly level so just about every drop runs out.speak to you all soon. I don't have a pit or a lift so I always use ramps - You can't get the under tray off if you don't!! Quote
Mr Poisson Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 im with you bigjeeze, you can't beat scrabbling around under the car on the drive. if you dont have ramp you can always jack the car up, pop something under the wheel, repeat on the other side and wa-hey shes up! regards Quote
