Guest brooksy Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 Can anyone help, we can't find the locking nut for our Galaxy and have a flat. Ford have said we need the locking nut number to order a replacement - we haven't got that either and the former owners been no help.?? Quote
mumof4 Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 have you tried looking in the rear of the gal on the right or left hand side where you can take the panels off????we found ours in there shoved right in..there are loads of little places which are hidden. Quote
Masked Marauder Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 Short of that a mobile tyre fitter will whip them all off with a reverse helix socket in so few seconds you will wonder if it is worth having them in the first place! Which it is though! Halfords ones are very very good and quite cheap too if you need replacements. Quote
Guest brooksy Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 Thanks, Have looked in every nook and cranny i can find and still no luck. Think i'll have to go with the mobile tyre fitter then buy a new locking nut. Bit of a pain as having to sell the much beloved vehicle due to emigrating to sunnier climes. Many thanks for repplies. dave_m Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 i have had similar problems with a lost/damaged locking nut/bolt keys on several of the cars i have owned. I find if you whack a slightly smaller socket on the locking nut than the nut/bolt itself with a club hammer and then undo it. Some of them have a spinning outer ring to try and prevent this but just destroy that with a flat blade screwdriver and above mentioned hammer before applying the socket. works every time ;) Quote
mumof4 Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 I see.....typical bloke...hit it with a big hammer!! ;) Quote

Guest FlyingDutchMan Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 Just in the odd chance this might be of help: I found the locking wheel nut in the left hand cubby on top of the dashboard, inside all the way at the back on the left. There is a small space there and it was in there.FDM Quote
johnb80 Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 Have a look on the jack, mine is stored clipped to it which does seem to be a logical place to keep it. Regards - JB Quote
