Can I Disconect The Aircon ?smell Of Burning

hi guys getting a new aircon compressor fitted at end of the month but i am getting a smell of burning i need to use car to take kids to school and get to work so is there any way of disconecting the aircon , so it dosent smell of burning even when i dont have the econ on (never use aircon as it dosent work) garage said that they cant do it till end of month and i thought the clutch freewheels so not sure why it is rubbing and causing the smell of burning.

also what does the aux belt control and is there any links to pictures of where your aircon is under the bonnet

Sounds like the clutch is seized or seizing - Disconnecting the Air Con power supply probably wouldn't help that.

 

 

Your handbook should tell you which fuse you need to pull to kill the Air Con but as I say it doesn't seem likely this is the problem.

hi thanks for the replys do you still have the smell of burning, when i first noticed the problem i smelt burning this was about 1 month ago then the smell dissappeared took it to garage today for them to check what parts thay need and when i collected it the smell seems to have returned but only stronger, not like a lot of people who have lots of money lying about so have to wait till i get paid but still ahve to get to work and kids to school, thanks for the help

Are you 100% its the air con giving you the burning smell,,,,,,,its just that I have read so many posts about the fuse box in the engine bay, destroying itself!!!!!!!

im just tring to fix the ruddy thing.....well........on saturday,hopefully ill be sat on the front lawn with the ruddy thing in bits around me!!!!!.... :o ;)

Anyway.....not my fault the bumpers hanging off...the windows dont work..the MAF is knackered....the cd changer dont work...cc keeps flashing..the wipers are stilted...........need a new front panel...new skirt..... :lol: (sure ive forgotten summit)

short term fix would be to purchase a drive belt for galaxy with out aircon and fit it without going around pump as it will be to short
