hi all

ive got an X reg, 2001 Galaxy, with parking sensors, Factory fitted.

i have recently changed the bumper protection plate, that goes just behind the tow ball.

the sensors are now solid on, all the time.

from this forum, i thought the sensors could be adjusted, to ignore the tow bar. but i have phone two ford garages, both say there no adjustable?

is there any way of sorting this without changing the plate again.

one of the ford garages, also said, that if the electrics were genuine ford ones, then when you wire them in, it "disarms" the two middle sensors - does anyone know how to do this?

The best solution is to get rid of the towbar and your mobile shed    :D

Sorry MATT could not resist that :D

I still got no idea how to fix your problem,,,,,,,,,,change back to the old backing plate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could you cut the wires to the 2 sensors :o ;) :D

its not just the shed, its the trailer too lol

don't want my old plate - like the new one.

i cant disconnect the sensors, as that would cause a fault tone

haha - its gets worse!

today i went derby. and sat nav took me a short cut, across country.

on this route, there was a stream that goes across the road, i went through it no problem on the way there. however, on the way back, it had been raining for a while, and the stream had got deeper, and wider. i went through it, and the water level came up to the door sills, and as to get out of this water, you go up hill, the rear end could have been momentarily submerged.

i have just been out to try the sensors, and now im getting a fault tone, with the button flashing. fault tone is coming from rear. the fault is also intermittent, ie, if you keep switching it on and off, sometimes the sensors work, sometimes the fault warning comes on.

i am now fed up

my parking sensors sometimes play up i have a towbar, i was led to believe the system is self learning i.e it adapts to the fact a towbar is fitted. when the towbar was first fitted i had all sorts of problems but they sorted themselves out

I have an fault with one of the sensors which is intermittent and causes the error tone. VAG COM brings this up as a fault code.

...any good off roader will tell you that you should get out and test walk a water crossing first...

i know that lol but i didn't want to get my feet wet

you should save that, for when i go thro another stream, and bust a tyre on a hidden rock.

i have already had a look under the bumper, there all soaking wet. was thinking, how hard are the sensors to remove from the bumper?

could put them somewhere warm to dry them out, etc.

But with a towbar you should worry little about sensors, wait until you hear the sound of the other vehicles crumple zone as you revers or your gal stops ;)

lol -- well, im happy do that lol, but one day i will get caught lol

i thought a towbar was the reversing sensor, you know you have to stop when you feel the bump

mmmmmm, this is odd, they have worked fine for a few days now?

i didn't believe they self learnt, but that's what they seem to have done!

will have to see what happens, now ive opened my gob, they prob will stop working lol
