Guest Nik Posted August 31, 2003 Report Posted August 31, 2003 Two days ago I came back from holiday and heared some noise coming from the engine compartiment. It was a low screaming noise, the higher the rpm, the higher the noise. I felt some trembling in the pedals. I switched off the airco and the noise was gone. I switched it back on, the noise was there again, but disappeared a minute later. After half an hour, just 500m from our house, the noise came back, louder and louder and than: a loud "tack" and it seemed like something soft felt of my engine. I drove further, and the airco didn't blow any cold air anymore. I saw nothing on the street.Question: - is the airco driven by a belt (i think so but am not sure). - where is the airco or the belt at the engine compartiment of the '01 tdi 90bhp? Quote
Guest Nik Posted August 31, 2003 Report Posted August 31, 2003 Oh my god. What a sh*tty car do I have! Thanks Fredt. You know everything! I guess you eat in a Galaxy, sleep in it, work on it, and whatever we may think :) you also do with a Galaxy :) I'm lucky that I don't have to pay for it, otherwise I already had a good Volvo in stead of this monday-car. But I still believe I'm in an exceptional case :) Quote
Guest Nik Posted September 2, 2003 Report Posted September 2, 2003 So there you say it: mine has about 110 000 km's! To everyone: be prepared  Quote
Guest Nik Posted September 4, 2003 Report Posted September 4, 2003 Fredt,My car is in the garage now. I had to leave it behind because ... they said it was the airco compressor that has to be replaced  . They first thought it was the (I don't know how to translate it exactly to english) electromagnetic clutch - a magnet that makes it turn if asked by the end user. I'll check that part of the system on the TIS-CD, which I found one day on my desk :unsure:An as the part was not available from stock, they will fix it tomorrow. Quote
Guest Nik Posted September 7, 2003 Report Posted September 7, 2003 I think I saw on the TIS cd that the aux belt also drives the water pump. Is that right? In that case: take good care everybody. Quote
