El Dingo Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 Has anyone mentioned water ingress via the door? Ooops edit :) - down the centre console.... Hmmmm (as Mof4 would say). You need a dry day and a hosepipe. I have heard about an assembly issue where a bulkhead weld doesn't get sealed properly - this was a SEAT. The water goes down the scuttle drains OK but some comes through the badly sealed bulkhead and drips in down by the bonnet release. Quote
teresa Posted August 8, 2006 Author Report Posted August 8, 2006 yes el they have where the centre console is there was a big puddle of water this morn it seams to be on an angle coming in at centre console all the thick padding is wet in one place .........near my peddles its dry .........about 8 inches in from peddles padding is saturated its about 2 inches wide carpet round my door is damp where its started to soak up excess water Quote
El Dingo Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 Sorry T, I edited. Is it near the bonnet release, or closer to the centre console? Quote
teresa Posted August 8, 2006 Author Report Posted August 8, 2006 its actually coming down centre console Quote
El Dingo Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 Some questions: Do you have a sunroof? The water smells nasty - are you having to top up the engine coolant regularly? Quote
teresa Posted August 8, 2006 Author Report Posted August 8, 2006 no and er no just smells of stale water Quote
El Dingo Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 Ah well, not coolant leaking out of the heater matrix... I can't think of anything now except the windscreen. Note that the leak doesn't have to be exactly where the water comes in - this sounds nutty I know, but the water can migrate around the gap between the bodywork, sealant and the screen. Or my (rather unlikely) bulkhead leak. Quote
teresa Posted August 28, 2006 Author Report Posted August 28, 2006 right looks like the window screen was replaced just before i had the car (seen signs of suckers on my window as it steamed up today) could it be it was poorly sealed when it was put in ? need to get this sorted as its getting worse also noticed the heated window screen is not demisting all my window, passenger side clears completely drivers side has about 3 inches at the side not clear could this also be sign of not sealed correctly thanks teresa Quote
Halloween Man Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 Gave up up on the leak .... traded in it for a new(er) Gal .... oh the smell freshness is a plesent change  Quote
