It seems unlikely to be leaking in more than one place at a time - that would be bad luck. I would imagine that once you have cleared the scuttle there will still be a considerable amount of water still in the various ledges and pipework etc.

Have you tired using a wet & dry vacuum cleaner to suck out as much water as possible? I found that a big help. Once it's mostly dry you can either use the heater to help dry it out or you could try perhaps a small fan heater (carefully placed so that water can't get a it) to help dry it out.

Once dry then you have a chance of removing the smell!!

once you have cured the ingress of water, you could also put a dehumidifier in your car for a few hours and see how much moisture you get out of the interior.

I think you would do well to follows Gregor's advice and put in a small de humidifier - that will be quicker and probably more effective.

Presumably your Galaxy is the mark 1? If so have you tried removing the lower windscreen corner trims yet and cleaning and re-sealing the upper holes that the trims clip into?

You will need to remove the wiper arms to get the trim off.

From your description it sounds exactly like what mine was doing. The holes in the bodywork run through into the car behind the dashboard. Mine only seemed to suffer in the rain when stood. Hosepipe water or driving in the rain didn't seem to let the water in!!

I know the feeling ...

I have the exact same problem with a 2002 Tdi (leakin drivers footwell) -

I have tried every f!%$ing thing under the sun -

and I still have the leak in the drivers footwell.

I have unblocked scuttle drains

been to Ford (useless trip ! )

checked TIS for info and did all recommended checks

checked all door seals , grommets etc

sealed windscreen

sealed joins in floorpan with silicon.

and lots more ....

I think FORD are responsible for this major design flaw - seems to be very common. Wonder could we take action ?

Any suggestions/ feed back .. much appreciated

:( well ive turned my car around it was facing nose down in my drive its now facing nose up its still leaking in but not as much when its facing down hill and on the flat ive checked everything :(

checked seals

unblocked scuttle drains

 i have noticed some water driping near the pedals when facing up hill

next step is when i come back off holiday to lift carpet in drivers side footwell remove dash then sprinkle talc to see if i can see where its coming in if this fails dunno what im going to do
