Guest StevePJ Posted March 6, 2006 Report Posted March 6, 2006 Does anyone know if there are any non Ford replacement radios that will also work with the steering controls, or will i have to use a replacement Ford unit for my now defunct 2007. Also if I have to go down that route, is it a straight replacement for the 6000 unit if i remove the tray underneath? Cheers, Steve Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted March 6, 2006 Report Posted March 6, 2006 Not sure on the availability of non OE head units that are compatible with the standard remote controls, one of our resident ICE experts will be later and will answer that question, if not Steve will as for dropping a 6000 unit, yes it will fit but it wont fill the hole completely and you will need a .5 din blanking plate to fill the gap Quote

muffking Posted March 18, 2006 Report Posted March 18, 2006 You can use an Autoleads PC99X series harness matched to a cable for the make of headunit that you go for (see http://thebassbin.co.uk/shop/product/products_id/2238.html). Why hasn't my '52 plate Ghia got steering controls though? Quote
muffking Posted March 19, 2006 Report Posted March 19, 2006 Why hasn't my '52 plate Ghia got steering controls though? Because they fitted them to the multi function steering wheel which was a factory option and appears not to be a retro-upgradable part  bum Quote
muffking Posted March 22, 2006 Report Posted March 22, 2006 Just received a Galaxy brochure from Ford and it seems that the reason why it's difficult to retro fit steering wheel controls is because the new steering wheel has a harness that not only connects to the stereo, but also goes off to control the cruise control too, rather than having it on the indicator stalk like mine is.
