mumof4 Posted March 4, 2006 Report Posted March 4, 2006 ours has been unplugged for months..just means you do more mpg! Quote
Guest whiterosessom Posted March 4, 2006 Report Posted March 4, 2006 You do MORE mpg or LESS ????????? Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted March 4, 2006 Report Posted March 4, 2006 Hey? how do you get a better mpg with a badly managed engine? Quote
mumof4 Posted March 4, 2006 Report Posted March 4, 2006 ang on.....confused myself now.......say .....you were doing 40mpg..then disconnect maf....you will then do say.....30mpg....so is right..you do less...hmm...ive lost it now Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 you dont get 30mpg??? Something to do with what they drive :P and yes they do drive Galaxy's and Sharans :D the rest I'll leave up to you to work out :) Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 is it because they are petrol????? Getting there MO4  petrol is correct but it's the size of the lump under the bonnet that kills their MPG  or in Justice's case it could be all those spare parts he carries along with a full set of amps and micro phone stands and backing singers  Quote
mumof4 Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 Ah...size of engine!!!..so the bigger it is, the less mpg you get? so diesels are better for mpg than petrols.but the bigger the engine, the more fuel it needs,so less mpg!. think i got it now! Quote
gregers Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 HHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY  Quote
Justice Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 or in Justice's case it could be all those spare parts he carries lol I put it in for an MOT last Wednesday and it failed on the n/s/f Track rod. Quote
shelbournes Posted March 7, 2006 Author Report Posted March 7, 2006 ahhh interesting ....Well back to the topic ....I do seam to be getting about 30mile to the gallon on short runs nowapprox 40 on long distance To add to the game...I took apart the maf sensor and on of the littleresistor/heat temps has come away from the pin ...this will be fun to get back on....But i think I have a way(oohhh..... you can't solder it ...it doesn't work)will try and get back to youThink this is going to solve loads of prolems out there Check your MAFS if you are chugging that's what I say...will be back soonKind regards shelbournes Quote
tim-spam Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 MOF, I doubt very much that your MAF is disconnected - if it was, the car would have similar performance to a milk float. Then again, maybe it does? Quote
mumof4 Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 My maf is disconnected i know that for sure as its got brown tape over the end that supposed to go into the other bit. Quote
shelbournes Posted March 18, 2006 Author Report Posted March 18, 2006 yep ...mine is definatly disconnected ...and it works better than beforeI.e. no coughing no spluttering ...lacks a bit of acceleration but it'sbetter than the problems I had before...It is definatly suspect (it is the sensor with the 2 resistor type things inside) Quote
