hi folks newbie here had galaxy 3 days now just one niggle when i start it hot or cold but not every time but quite a lot it turns over starts but its like starter motor carries on with a bit of a sqeal or grinding noise if you like, only for a second or too is this ok or is it my starter on its way ouy or is it starter at all many thanks.

I don't know the fix, but our starter motor sometimes runs on for a second or so, usually only happens once the car hasn't been used for a while and it has been sitting in cold/wet conditions. :(

So your not alone.

I would imagine a new unit will be required sometime in the future. I suspect its the solenoid sticking.

Any helpful tips from others are also welcome....

Often a squirt of oil in the rear bearing (usually a brass bush) will solve the problem.
